Miles Out...Cameron too..

That was quick.

I have no clue what'll happen, but Jimbo going there would surprise me for a multitude of reasons.

I also don't know that LSU will want to wait on Petrino either. Petrino isn't leaving UofL right now with the way they're playing. Should they beat Clemson, they'll be favored to get to the BCS championship. Toss in the fact that the school really have him a second chance, if you can call it that, I just don't see it.

Herman, best shot of the three names mostly mentioned. It would certainly be an upgrade to Houston in every way.

Wildcard name for the LSU job: Mike Gundy.

Not an insane suggestion. Why not make a run at Gary Patterson then though?
Funny, I haven't heard Patterson's name mentioned that much but yeah now that you mention it, why wouldn't they go after Patterson?

I read somewhere one reason Patterson has stayed at TCU is agreements with alumni/trustees in the Oil business kick in if Patterson stays thru retirement. The value of these back-end deals is more than just a pay raise for jumping to another program.

I do not know if this is true or not, but it could explain why Patterson has never left. You would think he would have had numerous offers, even before TCU joined the Big 12.

My money is on someone that will be a very underwhelming name. Think back on the last few "big time" job openings in college. Did any of the actual hires end up impressing you? We're probably near the top of the list as we exceeded many national expectations by getting Rick to jump right back in. Short of Harbaugh being lured "home" as well nothing else pops out recently as something that an objective person would deem an impressive big name "home run" hire.

Other than Nick Saban or Urban Meyer who are the 'big name' HCs? There isn't a large pool to hire from. Miami was looking at Butch, Schiano, and Mullen before Georgia and Richt 'parted ways'.

Chip Kelly might be available if San Francisco tanks and fires him, but Kelly probably gets another season. And if not, USC might be more attractive than an SEC job. Lane Kiffin would be a 'name hire' but a poor HC track record. Art Briles has baggage.

LSU might better off trying to find the 'next Herman', at a lesser price. A name assistant at a P5 school or a HC in the G5. If that coach worked out, then bump up the pay and think long term.

Is a great feeling we don't have to worry about them taking our coach. in the past our head coaches either used UM as a stepping stones to bigger and better things or we couldn't get rid of them soon enought

Supposedly ESPN talking to Miles...

About replacing Corso (I tink he is 82) on Game Day eventually...

Would he eat grass while wearing a mascot head?

Stay tuned for exciting television.

How about Bob Stoops?

He makes top dollar at OU but perhaps a change of scenery might be best for both schools?

Pretty sure LSU boosters will make whoever their next coach a nice backend deal like you describe here.

Too bad they didn't make one with Saban after he coached the Tigers to a NC.

Throw 15 mil a year at Saban and see what happens. Two birds, one big, fat stone.

Haha. You'd only get him a raise to $15,000,001 per year at Alabamy. They'd sell off parts of that campus before they let him go to another SEC school.

Then make Alabama pay that. hehe

No mention of Mario Cristobal? I heard he has interest in corching LSU
Obvious candidate. Saban disciple. Recruiter of the year. Prior head coaching experience. Crazy that his name hasn't been mentioned yet.

of course, it doesn't deal with Miami..... He's only good enough for souf florida skools,....sad, JJH,....... how they were using this scumbags name only for us... thank God he missed the train, LOL

Indeed. I think that was instructive.
