Rumph has had a lot of misses on the trail, no doubt, but so has every other position coach. The football product we've put on the field literally for the entire lives of current HS players has been atrocious. The big dogs aren't coming until we look like a good program again. So not all of that is on Rumph, though he does deserves criticism for misses as well (he did land both Couch and Williams last class though).

But ya'll are saying Rumph doesn't develop? What?!? He's one of the better development coaches on our entire staff.

This is where I head out. Dumbest thing I've seen.

The fact is we have 2 DB coaches that does not equal to 1. Banda is the worst out of those two. He can't recruit and his room go to Rumph for coaching.

FACTS-

Hall and Carter both had a quality season. I'm not sure what you are talking about

Hall was a boarderline 5 star, so it seems Banda is working with better quality players, so Bandas recruiting is better than Rumph but doesn’t mean coaching is

It’s not even about that..Look at position group performance since Banda and Rumph have been here..they are the least of our worries

Yeah I dont Get the hysteria, i get on banda about his recruiting( he’s in the same boat with rumph, not great but not bad whatsoever in that regard) but he has coached his group up. We got bigger issues than this

People act like these other guys are better recruiters than rumph , they are just as average if not WORSE. Rumph is a good coach and above average recruiter he’s bringing in talent at the position every year but people act like he doesn’t( you don’t help bring in 7 4 stars in 2017-2019 not being one). People keep crying about 5 star corners, what elite db is going to come here when we are struggling like this on the field?

Dude, he is not above average. Like the previous poster said, you can get the 4th, 5th and lower CBs down here and still be 4*. **** Blades wasn't even a full time starter and was.
There are plenty of coaches that can teach proper technique (I hate that our corners never look for the ball) but we need one that can recruit with the best of them.
We haven't had both (all positions) for far too long.

You listed a Senior at striker, a Junior who is a backup/part time player at safety, an amazing talent currently not living up to expectation, a true freshmen we haven't seen much of any of, a transfer that Brevin Jordan convinced to come to Miami, and a guy who isn't even on the team yet as well as a guy who has no interest in signing with Miami.

That is indeed comical.

I was referring to his ability to recruit. Sorry that you struggle with reading comprehension. He gets credit for every single player that I mentioned, and every one of those players was highly rated.

Any chance the Cane's will move on from him? He doesn't develop any of our CBs. He rarely puts our CBs in the NFL and when he does they are late draft picks. Our CBs have poor technique and constantly have their back turned when the ball is in the air. He's a poor recruiter tbh... He just lost a recruiting battle to UCF and the only CB we have in this class is Marcus Clark who is converting from WR. It wouldn't effect our class if we moved on from him. It might be the perfect time in my opinion

If Ray Lewis was on the staff and coaches DL (for whatever reason) and Blake Baker who is DC and LB coach. If you’re a LB at Miami who the F are you going to for technique advice?

I’m not saying Rumph should keep his job but man there is a reason who have 2 coaches at DB. One knows how to coach and one recruits. Both are doing it at a average level

do you people actually watch the sport or follow the NFL draft? our entire secondary is horrendous unless the QB is sacked. if a QB has time he carves us up.

secondly where are all these great players rumph developed? he is ONLY here bc Richt paid him back for the favor of landing sony michel at UGA. hes an absolute trash coach.

So his recruiting successes are amazing going by your list? Banda isn't a bad recruiter but that's not much if any better than what Rumph does.

That's the key here. You seem to think Banda is a great recruiter (he isn't), but those players aren't exactly a list of future starting safeties in the NFL. Banda isn't some great developer and he is an average recruiter.

Let’s be honest, if he gets canned because he can’t recruit, we aren’t getting a high level DB coach that is also a great recruiter when Blake Baker is the DC. Honestly the whole staff still belongs at a CUSA or MAC school.

I’m laughing because this is idiocy..Banda is the safeties coach. Rumph is the CB coach. They both coach for Miami. They both coach DBs..the safeties are getting coached by banda..period..the CBS Rumph..period. Both the units have to work together.

Name a position coach that’s part of a laughing stock of a fb program run by an incompetent Head Coach, OC/DC, and AD that is an elite recruiter for that program??

Rumph is only as good as the people he reports to... does he develop cbs clearly he does. Al Blades jr is another example of dbs that have developed under him.

Again, someone that actually knows inside the program has stated that Banda is a moron. His room goes to Rumph.
