Mike James on fan base raising money for fire golden banner

Its funny how miami fans make fun of other miami fans for being shi*ty fans. Stop acting like we are the only fans that voice our displeasure. Every single fan base does this. If other fan bases saw their team play defense the way we did the first 6 games then they would do the same thing. During the mizzou game UF fans were chanting fire muschamp and booing their own players. Michigan fans formed an angry mob at their AD's house. I'm not saying its right but stop acting like miami fans are the worst fans. When it comes down to it, all fan bases are the same.

Miami fans are crappy because they would rather pay for a banner than pay for a seat

Have to love America... I think for the most part people don't want to be told how and what to spend their money on. He is entitled to his opinion no matter how moronic it may be.

LOL, what??? That makes perfect sense. Let me reward the school/coaches for putting a crappy product on the field by giving them more money. Brilliant.

Isn't that the definition of bandwagon fan? A supporter of a team that only shows up when the team is good.

note: not calling you a bandwagon fan, just stating what you're describing is very similar to that.

Pretty sure a regular person wouldn't get to keep their jobs if they failed like Golden and the defense did for the first 3 1/2 years. And they get paid a lot of money to not ****ing stink. Boo hoo.

Except Golden's job was to keep the program afloat during a ****ing NCAA scandal and he didn't fail at all. As a matter of fact a lot of you were groveling at his feet hoping he wouldn't leave after 2011 and 2012 when things were at their darkest.

You call our record the past few years 'keep the program afloat'?

We've sukked!

I haven't seen anyone groveling at Golden's feet - other than the slurpers - and they might have been on their knees at Golden's feet for another reason.

LMAO! We've gotten better every year while the NCAA basically made recruiting more difficult than selling Malaysian Airline tickets.

And you have a foggy memory if you've already forgotten that fans were ready to build Golden a statue at the Hecht 14 months ago. We're a year removed from a banner praising the dude.

****tiest fan base in America. Don't show up to the games and then think the admin is going to give a rats *** about a banner? You already don't show up!

Excuse me if I don't get excited about improving records against ****** teams because the OOC schedule has been toned down since Golden has arrived.
Excuse me if I don't get excited right now for 3 straight wins over a ****** Cicny, VT, and UNC teams.
Excuse me if I don't disregard Golden's coaching history of having only 1 win against a team that finished the season ranked in the top 25.
Excuse me if I don't forgive Golden for having the WORST DEFENSE IN THE HISTORY OF MIAMI HURRICANES FOOTBALL HISTORY the past couple of years and not firing his buddy Onofrio for it.
Excuse me if I hold the corching staff to actual standards of winning the God**** Coastal Division in the ACC, whilst out recruiting every other team in the division while under sanctions and "The Cloud".
Excuse me if I haven't forgiven Golden for trying to ditch the program for Penn State.
Excuse me for not agreeing with your ability to accept the mediocrity that Miami Football has been for the past decade.

Now, if Miami happens to beat the Noles next week, and that's a big IF, and Golden wins out, wins the ACC, wins the bowl game, and will have to fire Onofrio for me to support him again.

Shut up ****** hypocrite. Has every single dollar of your disposable income gone to hungry kids (mike james, not OP)?

edit/
did not fund the banner

Don't think that was anywhere near his point...but okay guy

Then he probably shouldn't have said it.

"there are sick and hungry kids and you are raising money for _____________________"

doesn't matter.

I guess he would prefer instead of supporting the banner, people take thousands away in the form of not renewing season tickets (people in close proximity)
or stopping their financial support of the university and athletic department (in my case).

**** on outta here tar heels fan.

I see that it's difficult for you to understand that there is a major difference between what you originally posted and what Mike James said.

Mike James essentially said it's an embarrassment for folks to spend money on a banner when there are kids dying.

His point was about the juxtaposition of spending money on banners while there were kids dying.

He didn't say you had to spend your every cent on dying kids.

He said don't spend A CENT on a banner while there are kids dying.

It was about the worthiness/importance of the endeavor in the grand scheme of things.

Disposable income is disposable income, be it drinks at the bar, your new BMW, an apartment in a nicer high rise downtown, or a banner, it is disposable income that he probably has not completely appropriated where he is chastising others for not contributing. So again, until i find out that he actually is rocking a studio apartment and an 85 honda civic, **** on outta here.
Don't expect all the numbskull jock sniffs on here to understand the clear and obvious point about hypocrisy you're making. Unless you're donating all your free time and disposable income to starving kids don't be a **** hypocrite yapping about how others should be doing that.

James's simpleton basic comment resonates well with other nincompoops.

I didn't pay for banners to fly but I understand the fans who did. It's funny how MJ's and most arguments I see or hear in support of Golden and staff actually have nothing to do with his job. The arguments for Golden are NEVER about what happens on the field:

*coaching strategy in key games
*product on the field
*in-game adjustments
*player development

Pro AG arguments are ALWAYS something abstract: clouds, obstacles, good guys, gets-it, talent, trending.

Fact is we had the worst defenses in the history of the University of Miami for 3 years and it looked to me for the first few games of this season like they were ok with it continuing that way. Then the heat turned up for all the right reasons, you know the stuff on the field.

Mike James is 100% correct. Instead of flying banners, which had ZERO effect on this coaching staff and team, maybe some of you knuckleheads should buy tickets and send money to the Hurricane Club. Support your team, not be a drag on it! What a novel idea!

I have bought tickets, and have donated even though I live in South Carolina. But, I will not support a coach who continually puts the players in a position to not succeed.

Now you can go pound sand

Mike James loves Folden, and Folden loves James. He was clearly one of Folden's favorites here.

Had Mike simply been honest and said, "I like Folden and think he's doing a great job, so I don't agree with flying banners" no one would care or begrudge his words.

The minute he meandered into the land of hypocrisy and busted out the starving kids horse **** he became a disingenuous politician. Stay the fck out of other people's pockets. I'm sure he's spent money on things other than starving kids.

Exactly, MJ is entitled to his opinion but his reasoning for his opinion is laughable.

Saying that something is a bad idea because the money could be put to better use for some humanitarian cause is a really slippery slope.

For example: you could feed a lot of hungry kids with the money for your Hurricane Club donation, season tickets, and parking. I think fans that go to the games are embarrassing, that money could get put to much better use.

I would say some of our fanbase should cut off their internet access, sell their cell phones that allow them access to recruits' Twitter and Facebook pages, and donate that money to starving children.

So he doesn't agree with raising money to fly a "banner"? As a former player he is entitled to his opinion. The vitriol because he doesn't support yours is telling. Mike James is an outstanding representative of the University of Miami and he was an underrated player in college.

The premise of what he was saying might be true but couldn't he say the same thing for spending thousands of dollars on season tickets to watch a game? That could feed a whole lot more children than say, $20..

Yes, his comments were a little over the top. If you listen to the interview he said the money would also be better spent to help the program.

My opinion is anybody is entitled to waste their money on a banner. It's not even original. It did nothing when it was flown over the Orange Bowl in 1997 against West Virgina. We lost and next week got absolutely embarrassed against FSU. As a matter of fact students raised money and flew a banner over Doak that supported Davis. It was embarrassing in 1997, period and it had ZERO impact.

If Golden gets fired at the end of the season so be it. It will be decided by overall body of work. My opinion it is starting to **** people off at the university and it is probably having the exact opposite effect it is supposed to have for those well intentioned but misguided fans.

The people who supported the banner are no fans of the U. Either that or complete ******* retards.

Pay closer attention.

3-3 before banner (with 2 of those wins being against Ark St and FAMU)
3-0 after banner

Sounds like a pretty good investment to me.
