Mike James on fan base raising money for fire golden banner

Mike can say what he wants even if he's wrong. The the rest of you self righteous dolts can DIAF. The facts are that in Corporate America: if you make millions of dollars and fail to perform, no one should feel bad when they call for your head; the banner, in no way shape or form, is a slight against the players--opposite; and the part the coaches play in the terrible outcomes are a far greater hinderance to recruiting, and the future, than any banner. Go back to sipping chambord and listening to WHoreland Alzugay or the Feast for your #canesJamon circle jerk.

have to understand this game is a privliage to play and gives you the oppurtunity to be set for life, while us fans are working hard to, 40 hours a week and still not saving much money. so we need to have joy in seeing our team win each week, and if the coaches aint making obvious adjustments and just enjoying there process making millions we have the right to tell you gotta go or get the job done its simple.

Any idiot who would pay for a banner to fire a coach doesnt deserve to be a fan.
O RLY?
I have 160 K sunk into that ******* university-- very recently. I grew up in South Florida, as fan. I bleed Orange and Green. I will not compromise, and by extension will not let my team, or university fail--because that's what I learned. So, with absolutely no due respect, go **** your anonymous, cowardly, second-rate face.

Fly the Banner!

The first one got Golden off his fat ***!

I really think this had something to do with it, the pressure is going to force people to take notice. If we play conservative vs fsu I think he should be fired on the spot. Ice can take over since he is the most qualified one and he actually develops kids * GUS* Went from a broking down bus to a well oiled machine.

First, that whole someone's livelihood is threatened/kids are dying analogy was a bit of a stretch. I get what he's trying to say. Don't waste your money on being detrimental to the team. But that argument doesn't hold water when it costs $300 to go to the FSU game and the head coach is making millions of dollars.

Second, while I don't agree with the whole banner thing, fans invest in their team and support it in their own way. Some cover themselves in glitter, some make goofy t-shirts to wear, some wear darth vader helmets and some wake up at friggin' 2 am to root for the Canes. Most fans are passionate about their team and want it to be successful. And if they are not, they are going to express their disappointment in whatever way they can. If you can't handle that heat, you're in the wrong profession. It comes with the territory.

Third, some fans are kidding themselves if they actually think that Coach Golden changed his whole method of coaching because someone once flew a banner over a sparsely filled Sun Life Stadium.

I love James. I think he might have been Golden's favorite player, so can't blame him for stepping up for Al. Players and coaches have special relationships, so not surprising for them to defend him. It is a good thing. BUT coaches, players, school administrators are all on the "get" end of the big picture. They GET paychecks or free educations and shots a NFL $$$$. The fans are on the "give" end. We give our $$$, devotion, sit in horrid stadium, suffer the humiliation of listening to friends, family and co-workers gloat over their teams beating THE U. We have a different outlook. If Al's check bounced, I am sure he would be ****ed. If the THE U decided at last minute that Mike was not going to get his degree just because, I am sure he would be ****ed. We want our check to clear too. This is THE U and the check for the fan is the smirk on our face when we look at the nearest gator, domer, or feather freak and say"Nuf said mutha!" By the way, how has Al been doing since the banners?

So Mike James is saying people shouldn't spend money on plane tickets, hotel rooms, game tickets etc. to attend Miami games? Because if we're worried about starving kids, that's disposable income not being donated to them. Or let me guess, Mike James is okay with it if people spend money to see Mike James, but spending money on something he doesn't agree with is unacceptable right?

He does realize the next step after banners flying because people are ****ed is banners not flying because they no longer give a **** right?

He's entitled to his opinion.

Now I'm going to turn on octonauts (Disney channel) and watch w my 3 year old while he drinks orgNic milk from trader joes w chocolate. Ima have dunkin donuts pumpkin spice coffee from Costco. Later I'm driving to work hit gym at lunch and then home

That costs me as much as most who threw $25 or so at banner.

Poor starving children. Had I given up cable coffee car and gym they might not be hungry

I think MJ's was talking about the difference between spending money to get someone fired, and using it for constructive purposes. You may think trying to get Golden fired is a good and noble purpose. Mike James doesn't.

Pretty sure a regular person wouldn't get to keep their jobs if they failed like Golden and the defense did for the first 3 1/2 years. And they get paid a lot of money to not ****ing stink. Boo hoo.

President of the US kept his...

I think the GT game had more to do with the defensive changes than anything. I could see the banner uniting the team though, kind of an "us against them thing", maybe waking up the players more than the coaches. Coaches are used to criticism, but if I was the players, I would take it personally that the fans were that ****ed that they paid money to fly that banner. Either way, changes have been made. Golden knew coming in what Miami fans were like. Winning solves all problems and until Miami beats FSU, Miami isn't anywhere near back.

Couldn't help but root for the kid while he was here. Great kid and always played tough.

But he just needs to keep his mouth shut and worry about getting off the bench.

Winning cures all.

No, someone who knows a **** of a lot more about the Hurricanes situation and football in general than the whiny banner boys most certainly does not need to keep his mouth shut. He's got a lot more standing on the issue than some loser wannabe sitting on his couch stuffing his face with chicken wings and cheap beer and pretending to know how the program should be run.

Glad MJ couldn't grasp the idea of America and freedom of speech during his time at UM

Clearly those whining about "freedom of speech" are the ones that can't grasp the idea. No one is saying it should be made illegal (that's the freedom of speech standard). They are saying it is stupid, pathetic, whiny, idiotic, childish, and embarrassing....and they have the freedom of speech to say so.

Well, based on feedback from two different board members who have spent significant time with the team or is close to at least a few players, that's not the sentiment of the players. They don't appreciate the banners or the stupid, whiny negativity of the fans. They think very poorly of the fans, and they have every reason to given how pathetic this fan base has been acting. If you don't think that recruits get that same negative vibe about the Miami fanbase and that it doesn't impact some of their decisions, you're delusional.

Oh...everybody trying to go with the "arbitrary" argument.

I won't act like I'm surprised.

Jim Kelly has a charity for Cancer Research called Hunters Hope. On the day that he was recognized for his on-field performance, more importantly for his fight with cancer and raising awareness about his foundation, you mongoloids bought a banner to fly at the game.

On the day that Jim Kelly, a beloved Cane, who is fighting/fought cancer and is ATTEMPTING TO RAISE MONEY FOR RESEARCH, the mongoloids bought a banner (with his name in it no less) to raise awareness about...firing the head coach.

But like I said, I won't act like I'm surprised.

The premise of what he was saying might be true but couldn't he say the same thing for spending thousands of dollars on season tickets to watch a game? That could feed a whole lot more children than say, $20..
