Mike James on fan base raising money for fire golden banner

Can somebody, anybody, point to some sort of harm the banner has done? You guys keep talking about about how embarrassing it is, show me some tangible proof that it's so bad.

Glad MJ couldn't grasp the idea of America and freedom of speech during his time at UM

Saying that something is a bad idea because the money could be put to better use for some humanitarian cause is a really slippery slope.

For example: you could feed a lot of hungry kids with the money for your Hurricane Club donation, season tickets, and parking. I think fans that go to the games are embarrassing, that money could get put to much better use.

mike James is right about the banner.... I would hate for someone to fly a banner at my job lobbying for me to get fired.... That's essentially what some of our fans are doing to golden.... Hopefully golden has learned his lesson though.

Pretty sure a regular person wouldn't get to keep their jobs if they failed like Golden and the defense did for the first 3 1/2 years. And they get paid a lot of money to not ****ing stink. Boo hoo.

Except Golden's job was to keep the program afloat during a ****ing NCAA scandal and he didn't fail at all. As a matter of fact a lot of you were groveling at his feet hoping he wouldn't leave after 2011 and 2012 when things were at their darkest.

You call our record the past few years 'keep the program afloat'?

We've sukked!

I haven't seen anyone groveling at Golden's feet - other than the slurpers - and they might have been on their knees at Golden's feet for another reason.

**** his livelihood but regardless the people that doing this is doing damage to the university of miami period

we losing recruits period. the 2016 class is by far the #1 class in the nation. u can say what u want about them coming regardless with a new class but truth is we aint firing golden our university is in no position to pay out his buyout until 2021 so why the *** would u be flying banners u destroying our program worse than u clowns not showing up to games smh

Couldn't help but root for the kid while he was here. Great kid and always played tough.

But he just needs to keep his mouth shut and worry about getting off the bench.

Winning cures all.

Or he can just answer the question he was asked. Just so we're consistent. When P. Buch goes off on twitter do you immediately tell him to shut it because he was flop in the NFL?

Kids are dying but we pay Golden over 3 million dollars a year for ineptitude. Yeah worry about fans getting $1500 together instead of stopping world hunger. Smh

LMAO! We've gotten better every year while the NCAA basically made recruiting more difficult than selling Malaysian Airline tickets.

And you have a foggy memory if you've already forgotten that fans were ready to build Golden a statue at the Hecht 14 months ago. We're a year removed from a banner praising the dude.

****tiest fan base in America. Don't show up to the games and then think the admin is going to give a rats *** about a banner? You already don't show up!

Preach brother Mike. Twenty six thousand children a day die of starvation poverty and malnutrition and our dumbass fan base is spending money to fly banners to try to get someone fired... how pathetic is that.

How much have you given to help these starving kids? It would be almost as pathetic if you were being hypocritical.

Get off your moral high horse.

pretty sure half the people that are on this website are on during work hours and slacking at work while complaining about Golden not doing his job.

Really don't understand why people get so mad about the banner.

If you're not happy about a company or business or organization, then you have the right to protest.

If your protest isn't harming people, then do it.

Next time you buy a ticket to a game, rent a movie, eat out, go to the movies, buy clothes you don't need or electronics or magazine subscriptions, etc I hope you realize any and all of that money could have fed starving children.

That is essentially what you're saying. SMH.

Shut up ****** hypocrite. Has every single dollar of your disposable income gone to hungry kids (mike james, not OP)?

edit/
did not fund the banner

Don't think that was anywhere near his point...but okay guy

Then he probably shouldn't have said it.

"there are sick and hungry kids and you are raising money for _____________________"

doesn't matter.

I guess he would prefer instead of supporting the banner, people take thousands away in the form of not renewing season tickets (people in close proximity)
or stopping their financial support of the university and athletic department (in my case).

**** on outta here tar heels fan.

I see that it's difficult for you to understand that there is a major difference between what you originally posted and what Mike James said.

Mike James essentially said it's an embarrassment for folks to spend money on a banner when there are kids dying.

His point was about the juxtaposition of spending money on banners while there were kids dying.

He didn't say you had to spend your every cent on dying kids.

He said don't spend A CENT on a banner while there are kids dying.

It was about the worthiness/importance of the endeavor in the grand scheme of things.

But I can already tell that this idea/theme is a bit difficult for you to get a hold of.
That is still a leap. People don't have to come together and bring awareness for some plight in the world. People wanted to raise awareness for something they are passionate about, it doesn't always have to be starving kids or people suffering. Sometimes its about football, or a road that needs fixing, etc. Any way you look at it, its a ridiculous statement.

What? The banner is being talked about? I thought it was a non-issue.

That's....inconceivable.
