Ill just say it..based on that film breakdown alone..Scaife would never see another snap again here. Add him to the list with Mallory and Flagg. Alot of these kids better be glad they arent playing under Jimmy or Butch...Jimmy would be handing out transfer paperwork to every player on that team and letting them know if they dont get their **** together he will be signing it in the locker room directly after the UNC game and their time here will be done. Just embarrasing for a 6th year kid like Scaife to be playing like that.
Lmao sounds like something Cway said months ago. But, but, but he made 2nd team All ACC.

Scaifee, Mallory, and Ivey are three names this program should not still be hearing. They've done too much harm on the field smh.

Way more than 3 names. Steed, Agunde, Flagg, Oluwaasem(idgaf how it's spelled) Redding, Couch. I could keep going but I just ate.

We have Jason $&@ing Taylor as one of our analysts. People should be pouring over these film clips in Coral Gables.

I'd throw a wet paper bag out there and see if it stuck. Couldn't be worse. I'd rather see 3 Freshmen learn on the job.
That’s interesting, he’s been solid imo im lookin at the outside corners funny tho lol agree with steed tho flagg is bad but alot of that criticism should be thrown at steed too

You def could name more but those 3 are the most impactful and have been allowed to f things up way more than anyone else on the team, repeatedly

If he were in yr 1 or 2 maybe but in yr3 he hasn't improved even a little. In comparison to the outsides anyone would look better. He is serviceable but if that's our goal losing to MTSU won't be an anomaly.

i feel you bro. If you’ve never watched Coach Hayes before though I highly recommend it. He breaks complicated things down in a way a high school player could understand and the way he talks about the game and the plays makes you feel like it’s a film session from last weeks game you were playing in with your own coaches

Even this embarrassing a$$ game is a pretty great film review
Agreed

I’m not watching this one but he does a really good job I think

Coach Hayes is a brave man for rewatching that game and breaking it down for us miserable mopes. Anyways, here is a film review for those of you with a strong stomach.

I f’s w/ Coach Hayes & we’re completely on the same page.

Several things standout & this is y I painfully re-watch games.

1. IQ. This has been an issue for a while. The plays were there, guys were open, but pre determined reads, vs. reading the field led to awful decision making. Then we have defensive guys w/ a slew of miscommunication & not working together as a cohesive unit. That’s reared its head in all 4 games, if I’m being honest.

2. OL. While the unit has improved, it’s still dog chit. Being walked & tossed by a G5 team, a low level G5 team at that, shows why Mario has put a big emphasis on this via the ‘23 recruiting class

3. Play Calling. It can definitely be tightened up, for sure, but it appears it’s not “as” bad. When u see guys running free, & not being hit, or open windows being missed week after week, it appears to be a comfort/understanding problem

4. TE room. These guys appear to be able to catch well, run after the catch well, but blocking?? Nah. All r liabilities at this stage, & it’s hindered some big gains, or caused negative yards

5. Speed. We have maybe 4 guys w/ real football speed. I don’t care about shorts & t-shirt speed, I’m referring to true football speed w/ pads and shells on. Football speed where u’re pressed & u’re hips have to be twitchier than that guy covering u or vise versa or u’re toast.

All in all, as I stated: this game was bad all around, but it looks like our players r struggling to understand formations, protection, hot reads, assignments, etc. That’s coaching too, but it’s also why I said it’s really hard to change culture & change a playbook in one yr. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Good film review & I saw zero lies

I’m never this guy

But I’m with you here

If we are rebuilding for the future there’s no reason to start in the off-season

Even if our guys could read a D pre-snap, they don't have time. Busy loomong over to sideline then by the time the adjustment comes in and everyone is set, playclock is at 5. That's why the Briles O is the way to go in college. It's purely a numbers game on whether to call run, pass or RPO. Then it's a quick 1 read post snap.
This. I think there's too much thinking going on . I've watched this game mutiple times. Some of that has to be taken out. forget the check with me.
I’m glad you guys mention this. I said the same thing after the A&M game.

The check with me stuff might work but usually the defense counters with their own check and our QBs don’t have nearly enough time to identify and read the new defense for the new play and aren’t mentally prepared for what is coming.
