Outside linebackers that go in the first round are absolute freaks nowadays. Pinckney compensates in awareness and instincts - if you draft him in the 3rd or 4th round you got yourself a long time starter.
I just don't think scouts will pencil him as a day 1 pick

That and he doesn't take care of his body. He's likely not going to test out well at a combine. Like you said, he'll likely be a 3rd-4th round steal because the kid can play.
 
He really does make some incredible plays, hopefully we see a little more consistency this year. And dude... get you diet right, **** won't fly in the league and shouldn't fly at UM

Everyone that says this hasn't seen him lately. He knows it's time to get the bag. Just watch the show
 
He has to slim down a bit, his frsh year he was a missile. 2nd year he was productive I just think he needs to lose weight tbh.

Follow him on IG. Then you will know he is peak physical condition. He regularly does not have a shirt on. No homo.
 
Don’t give a s*it what kind of shape he’s in as long as he continues to make plays. Some of you fall in love with body types.

Zach McCloud is an freak shows physically but he’s just not very good.

Pick is he best LB on the team IMO, just keep being a playmaker.

Every one of the linebackers needed to show more consistency. At various times, they all looked good, but would disappear for long stretches. We all expected better after they played their frosh season so we'll see what happens this year. I'll be surprised if any of them leave early.

Unfortunately, NFL scouts care a lot about 40 times and Combine results, not necessarily who knows how to play the game. Pinckney is going to have to run in the low 4.6's at worst to be a 3rd round pick. Walter Football is projecting him to run a 4.69, which is slow for an OLB and why he is currently given a 3rd-5th round grade.
 
While you don't need to be an elite athlete at Off-LB to be drafted in Round 1...you do need to be above average at minimum...and your tape needs to be off the charts. Michael Pinckney is a fun player...one that I love as a Cane...but he's a below average athlete (his SPARQ scores will justify this hot take...wait for it) and only has flash plays a few times per game...he's not consistent like say...Ro Smith or Tremaine Edmunds or LVE...for all three...they had their issues playing in trash or taking on blockers, but all, when untouched, flew around the football all game, every game.

Other LBs that went on D1 or D2 are above average athletes or killed the senior bowl or provide + coverage skills. Double down on the + attribute if you are an underclassman.

Also, in sum...if you think Pinckney is a first rounder or even Round 2 or 3 pick RIGHT NOW, you just don't know what one looks like in 2018.
