Michael Irvin Transferring

TE is one of the few spots on the team where we're not thin.

He had Hodges & Mammarelli breathing down his neck, both of whom are already more athletically gifted than him the day they walked on campus.

Yup. One of the few kids on the team who actually does have the talent to play here but I don’t mind losing at all. Good luck to him. We’ll be fine.

Yep he would’ve played this season but it lets us see the younger guys so no complaints from me. He’s tired of banking on brevin getting hurt and Mallory dropping passes, my boy wanna play and i don’t blame em.

Sucks.

but that’s what happens when you have 3 TEs in front of you who can start at 60-80% of college programs right now as TE#1

Like Cager, I think we'll regret losing him. We're so **** thin across the board. losing a talented kid like Irvin is a shame. But Jordan is special and Mallory has the potential to be special. So I get why he wants more opportunity. Wishing him all the best.
Can't afford to lose depth, especially good depth.

Everyone knows he isn't a Jordan but if injuries hit. He would be more than capable to tote the weight

Yall are sleep on the boy Larry Hodges, he's going to be a baller & has very good hands.

Plus Mammarelli being an EE is huge given he'll get stronger, he's already 231lbs as a TF & by fall camp he'll easily have more weight & strength at a legit 6'4 230-240+.

Idk why yall are acting like Irvin Jr was Winslow JR lol. He barely ever played here, he was basically the Patchan of TE's.

Hodges & Mammarelli are 2 very good backups behind Mallory if Brevin is still injured when the season starts.

i liked what i saw from hodges last year before he was shirted. our TE play should improve this year as well w the O

Smart move. Not a lot of snaps for a blocking specialist TE in this offense.

I wish Jr the best and would have preferred he stayed but come on guys. This is 1 of the few positions where we don’t just have a quality starter but depth too. Beyond Brevin and Will, Hodges flashed last year and will be a player and Dom being here for the spring is huge for his development. We’re good at TE.

Are you referring to when Patchan actually played TE?? lol

I'm not so sure these kids are going to find new schools so easily. Reed obviously didn't. Jarren hasn't yet (although he's had more than just talent concerns). Patchan hasn't landed anywhere yet either. Irvin is going to have to go down below the Power 5 level and possibly far below that level to find a spot. Schools don't seem willing to take transfers unless they're impact guys. If you're Michael Irvin's son, and if we're being honest, you don't appear to have an NFL future, why not finish at Miami? I'm sure he has his reasons, and far be it from me to insert my own, it's puzzling to me.

45 year old fat dude pecking on his keyboard calling a kid who gave us four years here a quitter made me lol.

I’m sure you’d give up your final chance to do something you’ve loved your entire life for the sake of someone else.

32. Not fat.

Sitting here on CIS waiting to get the CO on a new house my company built on the beach...

Yes he is a quitter. He could of stuck it out and earned time. He should have a leg up on everyone beside Brevin.

But continue on like you know something

Everything you say may be true.

But we still are struggling to keep 85 recruited scholarship players. We were still down to 1 TE last year after injuries. We still struggle to line up 2 deep for practices.

We need to keep guys, we need to develop guys, and we need to stop analyzing every kid's impact by some "game-changer" standard.

Just my opinion. I realize that Irvin leaving is not going to make or break the program, but these ongoing losses are having a cumulative effect.
