MIAMI TALENT

What boggles my mind is that you have some people blaming the players for not doing their job on the field. Coaches matters man! We saw that when D'No left our team and we got Manny Diaz to run our defense. You saw an improvement. That BS that Ivey pulled on that safe punt is an indication that the coaches aren't doing their job. For me, it reflected a lot on the coaches. I bet that safe punt defense formation was probably just a walk through formation but was never practiced. The coaching staff we got in this team is not division I football. This is a high school football staff.
I've never played organized football in my life and I knew Ivey should have covered him. I knew before the play that they should play the fake. You're telling me a kid who has played football for how many years and is now at a division one program didn't know to cover the guy? Come on.

The coaching staff is bad but this one is in the player.

We have the talent we don’t seem to develop that talent. It’s frustrating watching teams with less talent doing more. Some of this falls on the players but, it all starts at the top and for the most part we have not developed the players we have. We seldom come out with a sense of urgency, we look confused , dumb penalties we play down to our opponents. That’s on the coaches as far as I’m concerned .

See that's just it. We have kids who WAS talented in high school. But because they are not developed then therefore they NOT talented now.

You mixing up TALENT with POTENTIAL.

Our guys have lots of POTENTIAL. But until they can block and catch they ain't got TALENT.

first of all can you please speak like a normal person? Nobody is legit taking you as an official on the definition of the word talent when you can’t put a sentence together with any form of grammatical accuracy.

secondly, talent IS potential. They are synonymous (look it up as I’m sure you will need to). Talent means nothing if it isnt cultivated (go ahead, look it up as well). 17 year olds aren’t fully made products, they have to be developed.

WRONG

Talent is developed ability, potential is the ceiling to which talent can be developed. How's that for normal english, *******?

A great musician has talent. A student has great potential. They are NOT the same thing

When you watch that fake punt TD, Ivey just stopped doing his job. Is that on coaches or on players? I do know that under JJ, Ivey would’ve been benched and never seen the field again...but after Bandy went down we were left with basically no depth (and Ivey got toasted again later for a TD)....I think we are in an awful position: potentially talented players, with no self motivation, with no consequences to their bad actions since we have such little depth.
This is going to take several years no matter who the coach is!!!
This is as big a cultural shift change as we have ever had at the U.
Frustrating!!!!! Just **** frustrating!!!!!

LMFAO oh I’m so glad you said musician, as that’s my profession. Its what I went to UM for.

Guess what we did all day? We attended lessons of great teachers who took us from talented 17 year olds To actual professionals. The U Jazz program is top 3 in the world. Had I gone to say, Rutgers, I wouldn’t be half as good as I became.

My talent was the same, but my ABILITY grew bc of the quality of teaching I received. THAT IS THE WHOLE CRUX OF IT.

Talent is meaningless without training. Absolutely meaningless.

Miami/So FL got the reputation as a talent mecca because of the Cane's early successes, when they had the exclusive pick of the litter. The next tier settled for FSU, UF, or elsewhere.

You know how stereotypes live forever - like Thug-U? So do legends like the one Schnellenberger perpetuated about recruiting South Florida. It makes for good stories on ESPN and sound bites for announcers and people who don't want to look further.

But things changed, over the past two decades, and that seems to have passed Miami by. Miami/So Fl athletes aren't as tough or as coachable as they used to be (It was their way out), and there aren't as many of them. Welcome to the entitlement era.

Talent is not just athletic ability, it includes discipline, football IQ and a desire/will to win. This program has some of that; some talent, but nowhere close to enough to get over the hump of even winning the Coastal. I mean aside from the level of Bowl game your W/L record gets you, and as hysterical as fans on here get; this season isn't any different from the last 17 years (except 2017): Miami under performs. The kid said it, guys not caring about losing, not having a chip on their shoulder - that's bad, real bad that you have a player see it and everyone else pretends its all good.

If you are building a culture, your team should be playing balls to the wall. Should be doing that anyway. Sorry to say, GT players played harder. I only saw the 4th quarter and OT but it was clearly evident. The Canes don't play with a genuine passion to win, its not that they don't play hard and want to win but winning for the U is not their passion collectively as a team. I responded a few weeks back to a post when Diaz was talking about how bad the practice was. My response was it is all lip service by Manny if he doesn't start sitting players that don't want to work and grind for the U. By not doing this you will lose the players that actually are this on your roster. This staff should not be trying to redshirt any freshman except for the couple of DT where we have legitimate depth. Not having a plan to cross train players within position groups is beyond stupid and amateur so here we are.

South Florida is still ahead of the rest of the country by a mile, and the numbers consistently make that obvious.

The problems are: (1) we aren’t getting enough of the best; and (2) we aren’t coaching the ones we get.

what's a normal English *******? Is that any different from an American *******?

I've seen some raunchy stuff on Pornhub but from behind they all look the same.

Miami NEVER had the pick of the litter in south Florida. We had to fight off the competition, mainly UF and FSU, for top south Florida talent. We got our share, but we lost a lot of talent to those schools.

Lol. Serious question.

How many guys at miami will be drafted to the nfl?

How many from gt?

We have way more talent than gt. We have more talent than unc and vt.

We lost to the worst team in football, at home.

Nobody is saying we have Alabama talent.

If this team wa playing for Urban Meyer it would probably be undefeated, maybe one loss to UF, and our players would be getting NFL looks. Good coaches get the best out of their players, bad coaches ruin kids careers.
End of discussion.
