Miami / Stanford result and your confidence moving fwd:

Assume Miami is up 21-7 at half and wins 38-14 - how do you feel moving fwd?

Not worried with result like that. I would want to see starters dominate. I expect 55-17....... I am fine with 38-14 if we are rotating a lot of younger players and there are some errors.
 
Depends on who we have on the field - and for how long.

I'm not a big believer in showing opponents everything we have in our Trick Bag.
 
Blowing out a bad Stanford team wouldn’t really matter much to me, and I wouldn’t be terribly concerned if it wasn’t a blowout. The only outcome that would concern me is if we let up a ton of points or the defense looks pedestrian in general.
 
a mix of excited but a bit underwhelmed. And even within that score scenario context matters. Are we leading 21-0 and they catch a busted play. Are they driving with us up 14-7 and we get a pick six? Overthinking for sure but what else I got to do? 1st game doesn’t make a trend but you can only look at the results you have.

Last season there were some question marks that got “win-washed” early on. Can’t ignore the irony that we needed to change/open things up to make the playoffs but our ability to run the ball in the end took us to the final. It’s almost like a healthy balance of not being predictable and keeping defenses honest made things work better, but that kind of thinking g was mopey last year.

Agreed, that was the "rat poison" that was referenced not in the locker-room but in the Coach's office. This stubborn insistency regarding the offense not needing to change, no matter how many 8/9 man fronts RBs encountered in the box.

Anyway, you're right. If this goes 21-0 then 21-7 just before the half that ultimately leads to a 38-7 score entering the 4th, that will feel very different than 21-14 with 8 minutes left in the 4th before the starters are required to eventually put this game away.

This game may be best measured by how many minutes the 2nd stringers get.
