Miami opens at -18.5 vs USF

Here’s the full box score from their Boise game. They didn’t outplay them to the degree the final score showed. Obviously credit where it’s due. Make the other team pay for being careless.

But nothing screams they are world beaters. Just have to play our game. It’s simple.
UF repeatedly ****ed up and USF and a good enough team to make a play if you allow them to stay in the game.

I think Mario watched the ufag game and is thinking he will just run the ball down their throats so expect a heavy dose of Fletcher and brown. Maybe Lyle if he is all the way back

If you want to know why Miami is favored by 18, here you go.

We're #6 in offensive success rate, USF is #114

We're #32 in defensive success rate, USF is #79

USF has been plain bad on offense through 2 games. I don't see that changing against the best group they've seen to this point. If we give up more than 21 in non-garbage time, I'll be pretty disappointed.

Breakdown of the metrics for their game vs hogtown.

About what you'd expect from an 18-16 game. Both offenses pretty much stuck in the mud. USF didn't do anything well on offense, really.

Held the gator to a 3% explosive rate, which is pathetic for a team with that much talent.

As I've been saying, USF's defense has actually been better than their offense. But overall this isn't a great team by any means. Just go play well and don't beat yourself and we'll be more than fine.

The question I think some people, outside the Miami sphere, aren’t asking is how good is UF and Boise? Just because some mouth breathers had them T25 to start the season doesn’t mean they are good football teams.

They have that weird non explosive up tempo offense. Death by a thousand paper cuts but that limits their potential against even just above average offenses.

I’d expect we do a healthy dose of running the ball to start. Once they commit more bodies inside the box I’d imagine we air it out. I don’t think this game should be close. We could definitely **** down our leg, but I’d be upset if we don’t cover by the third quarter. If Emory doesn’t play I’ll have concerns for this team.

Long methodical drives by Miami is the only thing that can keep this game close.

Cristobal likes to create too much variance in games by not having as many plays/possessions run.

Don’t do that here and it’s an easy win.

I don’t think is close. I know Mario prefers the “safer” route. But we do have two full seasons of Dawson and his gameplan to look at. USF either has to commit 7-8 guys in the box to stop the run or play pass coverage. I just don’t see Dawson banging into stacked boxes vs a G5 team. Maybe I’m delusional, but I just don’t see it.

If Dawson is willing to run into stacked boxes against ND over, over, and over again, what makes you think he won’t do it to a G5? He’s going to try to bully them with the 3 running plays we have.

I would love to see Miami execute big plays against a respectable opponent. The slow moving drives are cool but eventually we are going to need to move down the field in a hurry because we are playing from behind.
