You have to grasp the concept of what the 2.5 million is.
Is it valuation? Is it total estimated compensation? I recently left my job for another opportunity and was told by my current employer that I was getng paid “above market value”.
They were adding up all the benefits and potential earnings like potential overtime and holiday pay to their equation and not what I actually get paid every month.

So yes. Cantwell’s offer may be 2.5 million. But there is no way that 2.5 million is referring to only a paycheck.
Same thing for all the other NIL offers.

I just don’t believe UGA would get outspent by double for a consensus elite talent at a position they struggled with to develop last 2 years. Just don’t believe that.

OSU bought a championship this year. That’s the narrative still being pushed by Saban and the slimy little ***** that are trying to make things go back to the way they were behind the scenes

I agree, it’s always packages with every recruit

They’re going to have to do other things outside of just playing to earn that money. If it’s autograph sessions or what not or a branding deal with a company

Yes. One guy “reports” it and 1,000 people regurgitate it. Just like how someone decided that Carson Beck got 4 million. Those close to the situation say it’s much less but it doesn’t matter because big numbers get clicks.

Look at realistically. Did all powerful Georgia really get outbid by over a million dollars for the #1 player in the nation? At a position they’re desperate for help at? This is a program that has proven time and again that they will spend whatever they need to get the players they want. Now all of the sudden they’re on a budget when it’s the BEST recruit in the nation? They’re asking their top target to take a “discount”?

This whole thing reeks of Georgia and their media making excuses. There’s no way a player would EVER choose Miami over UGA unless they got paid waaaay more money, right? Especially after all those media members were positive that the Bulldogs were getting their guy. Miami only got him because they’re the rich bully overspending on their players while poor little UGA can only offer a tiny amount.

It’s complete BS to say Miami only lands recruits because of NIL, yet if they pick another school, it’s always “thanks to that staff’s hard work and dedication.” Then the media swoops in to solemnly report that the player is paying above-market tuition and board out of love for the school—how selfless. :rolleyes:

I don’t buy those NIL figures completely. And if Georgia really was only willing to match half of what we offered… **** UGA. I hope they limp to a 7–5 season, cling to their bargain-basement recruiting strategy, and vanish like the dodo.
