I doubt we will paying more than 4 million for the head coach considering we will be still paying Golden. Not sure we can match USC or even USCe for that matter.
Chip Kelly is not leaving the NFL where he makes 6.5 millions. Herman has options so if he wants more money he will probably go to one of the USC's. That leaves Butch Davis as the next best option. If I am a betting man which I'm not, I put my money on Davis.

Bump. It would be a shame if the wrong guy got the coaching job because the fans were largely silent regarding their preferred candidate, especially given how vocal those same fans were for Golden's firing.

There are vocal anti Cristobal Alf voices on this forum. However, sadly I think it's the minority. I've been listening to QAM the past few weeks and it's full of morans talking about how Cristobal Alf should be the next coach. Former players, sofla HS coaches, canesfam are all pushing HARD for this guy and who are speaking against this? A bunch of message board weenies?

The Pro Mario Mercenarios cannot be underestimated.

Lots of circle, both political and financial, are jockeying for influence, saying this is our time, this is Cristobal time, he is one of their own.

This is the same way that people underestimated Randy Shannon was going to rise to the top after Chuck Neinas was hired, and the BoT hired Shannon.

THIS ! We know Mario has a lot of support from the local "padrones" and they will try to force UM to hire him as HC. If this happens, we might as well fold the program. This clown doesn't have the experience yet to run a program like ours. It's just OVER if this happens. Not only is this guy a joke as an HC, he has a nasty personality and no loyalty to anyone but himself. He's already shown that. He couldn't get along with FIU AD Garcia so I don't know why even the Cuban community thinks he is the answer.

Am sick of hearing of all these good options for HC at Miami (especially the last three times we've made a hire) only to find out we're stuck another incompetent small-time a-hole, pay him a big underserved extension, and then will have to can him in four years time for basically doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING RIGHT!

I don't care where his family came from, who he knows, or what connections he has to this community or school. HE SUCKS just like Clappy, Radio, and Albortion did. D$ is spot on regarding Jackson. But, when he's getting info from Trustees during a coaching search, then you know the leak is strategic. From where I stand, Butch is the frontrunner. Trustees dropping positive tidbits for the public to start to digest. If Butch weren't at the very top, no way a Trustee would purposefully prop him up through Barry and set the admin up for a major backlash when he's not hired. IT'S ******* HAPPENING.

Well, fine. Do your due diligence on Butch. Read every scrap of paper the NCAA has on him, talk to all sauces. Reading Barry, I'm inclined to think that Blake is taking Sam's advice about not being afraid to think outside the box. Well, that's great and it will be great fodder for everyone speculating and floating names of just about everyone under the sun. The 'a lot of people are interested' ans 'surprise' candidates just sounds like Cheepnis type PR. I'm really skeptical when it comes to UM on this.
