I figure he's probably thinking (a) results matter, and we're in the playoffs, that counts, and (b) that maybe he's opened up and shown some flexibility in terms of his own tendencies that have limited him in the past. Although - (b) may be wishful thinking, but if true, is huge.
 
WELL DESERVED!!! COACH MARIO HAS GOT US AS CLOSE TO THE OL’ SKOOL DAYS AS ANY COACH WE’VE HAD SINCE BUTCH LEFT….MY QUESTION IS DID THE ATHLETIC DEPT CONSIDER THIS WHEN WE LOST TWO GAMES THIS YEAR OR WAS IT JUST BECAUSE WE MADE THE CFP AND WANTED TO LOCK HIM IN BEFORE HE BECAME MORE MARKETABLE?
 
What most of you guys might not realize is Mario has had some heat since last season on his chair. THIS certainly makes a difference. However it's not at all gonna get him an extension nor should it. What we do in the playoffs earns that with a VERY TOUGH matchup in a very tough venue against a VERY well coached a&m. Us winning the games that without question we should be against rhett and his band of castoffs, brohm and his play calling. Those are the things that will get him that extension. Let's just live in this moment & get fired the **** up for a playoff run.

Mario has a 10 year contract. Even considering extending it at this point makes no sense.

Yup all the Haters need to reload their ammo about coach pay so they need him to get the extension/pay increase lol.

Like I’ve repeatedly said, Mario isn’t even a top 20 paid coach in CFB right now. There are probably like 5 coaches who are making more to not coach their former team than Mario is getting paid per year.

I don’t think he needs an extension though. We need to just add performance bonuses. Make CFP get $1M bonus. Every CFP win is another $500K-$1M bonus.
