The first ever preseason coaches poll for the 2026-27 college football season has been released and the Miami Hurricanes are ranked as the nation’s No. 7 team in the land.



The Miami Hurricanes will enter their second consecutive season inside the top 10 in the Coaches Poll rankings. Football kicks off in 31 days for the first game of the season against Stanford in Stanford, California.

I used to think these early preseason polls were meaningless, but considering how it came down to the wire this past playoff....I'm not so sure anymore.

Wonder when Lanning will start getting the same heat Mario and Franklin got for not achieving pre-season hype.

To be fair they have only lost to eventually natty winners last two seasons. The playoff losses for some reason were large defeats so you can question Lanning in those games but you can’t say much else.

I didnt. Dude turned into Casper the ghost as the season went on. I remember watching the Texas game week one and I told my wife man that kids is an animal. Then he disappeared.

 

UGA is a sinking ship. Sark will ***** up a few times at UT. Lanning will make angry faces on the sidelines until he plays an elite team.

I don't care how much they spent in the portal; they've yet to prove much of anything under Sark. ****, aside from Vince Young what has Texas really ever done to deserve so much credit?

Yeah, agreed. It seems Texas is getting the Arch Manning preseason hype each year, which is so stupid considering he hasn’t been that great. If his name wasn’t Manning, he definitely wouldn’t be getting this hype.

 

The minute we lost at Louisville last year they knocked us back to 9. SMU got us knocked back to 13 or 14. We had to prove that we belonged. The networks love us. The Committee thought we were a flash in the pan. We have to change their minds this year. Getting as far as we did last year helped us a lot.

What surprised me was not them picking us over ND; I expected that because of head to head. What surprised me was the Committee glazing Alabama.

I get ya but we were playing like complete **** to be honest. Offense was horrible. Tons of bad mistakes and lack of discipline which was always held against Mario

I think the committee just said basically

“Prove it” to us when we played Pitt

We did and they rewarded us for it. Now I think we’ve gotten rid of that Mario stigma where he loses games he shouldn’t and makes terrible in game errors

 

OSU lost the three guys on their defense that actually were tone setters. I know they brought in John Walker but I didn't see any of the other young guys really flash the sort of ability that Downs Styles and McDonald brought. I expect them to step back unless they have a couple dudes on the D really emerge. I got em dropping 2 to 3 games this season.

Not sure this line up is gonna get it done against Texas and if they lose to Texas I think they drop at least one of Washington PSU or Michigan

They aren’t meaningless because they end up setting the standard for the polls that everyone, including the Committee, subconsciously relies on. Even though they don’t actually count, they do end up counting because they have more or less pre-dictated the outcome and anything that defers too much from what they’ve set will be seen as too much of an outlier.

Ok listen as a diehard Cane im not glazing OSU or anything I don’t like them, but they should have a better oline and Sayin is a good QB, that along with JS out there. Deep down inside I think we’re the best team in the nation, I just tried not to be too biased and put us at 3.

 

I could see either of those thing happening. Anything can happen week 1. Louisville is being slept on big time, and Clemson is always a tough game in Death Valley. Best case scenario is Miami beating an unbeaten, top 15 Clemson team who beat LSU, beating top-5 Notre Dame on the road, then beating potentially undefeated, top-12 Louisville in the ACC championship game.

If it played out that way, I don’t see how Miami isn’t the #1 seed.

I believe Louisville is being underrated, they’re a 10-2 team playoff caliber team. Clemson will have a strong front 7 on defense, this will be our revamped offensive lines first real test imo. And I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Clemson beat LSU
