Betting sites released their odds for the Week 1 slate of college football games in February. Miami travels to Stanford, California, to take on the Stanford Cardinal on September 4th. The Hurricanes opened as 21.5-point favorites in February, and the line has since moved in the Hurricanes direction.

The Hurricanes are going to be favored majority of the season, as Notre Dame potentially would be the only game that the Hurricanes would come in as an underdog.

If people believe we’re going to win by 30+, I think they are going to be disappointed. Week 1 is always a crap shoot. Stanford is a disciplined team with some decent talent, especially in the trenches.

I expect a slow start. Their team and fan base will be juiced up, but we’ll pull away in the second half. I’ll say we win by 17-24 points. Don’t see us blowing them out completely.

The time zones and dead Friday night games are tricky plus they play a week 0 warm up prior to ours.

Mario teams seem to always start strong, we should out talent them and cover late but Stanford does have some nice things working in their favor. Probably why the line is not higher.

Who has forgot about Cal two years ago. Never fun going out west for any game. Miami SDU in 1990 barely won, Miami BYU opening game lost.

This game could tell us a lot about the mentality of the team. Are we last five games of LY and play like every game is life or death or are we same ole Miami and goof around with lesser talented teams?
I realistically expect a tight first qtr for obvious reasons, after that we’ll see…

I wouldnt be shocked if Stanford pulled a page out of FSUs playback from 2024 when we played them and they just played keep away and sat on the ball so Cam and company couldnt go ape$hit. I could absolutely see this being a 31-10 score and a really boring game. And Mario just wanting to get the **** out of there.

 

Seems like a decent line. 24 is a key number, I'll be interested to see how it moves into and past that, or if it does.

I could definitely see this being a 41-10 type game in the 4th quarter and you're sweating a backdoor score with all our backups in.

I get it but they get to go out earlier than normal because it is week one Mario has already said so

Also, it’s on Friday night and it’s essentially an exclusive window. I think there’s one other ****** game going on the entire country’s gonna be watching this game. It’s a good moment to start putting the perception in voters heads to make sure that you’re as high up as possible, getting into all the stupid bull**** later on in the season when the college football playoff committee goes.

Yes, we should win, but you should still make it a statement and that also includes getting all the starters out in the early third-quarter, if not by halftime

i'm not disagreeing with you, optics and all of that are important, but IMO, guys staying healthy is more important. Even if the team is able to go out a day or two in advance, its still a big trip with a big time change and everything associated with that.

Again, I'd love to see a 49-7 type game but at the same time, taking everything into account, if it ends up being a 42-17 or 38-17 type game and we look decent and again, stay completely healthy, I'm fine with it.

 

I think Miami wins by 30 plus. If they don't I'll personally donate a bottle of 15 year old scotch.
