Miami Expected To Be A Big Player In Houston DB Transfer A.J. Haulcy

While I agree landing Haulcy is a critical step in becoming a playoff contender, Haulcy is not the messiah. There are other holes left to fill and dependencies. Our DT rotation is too thin and will not hold up for 13+ games. We are still missing a proven big/speedy outside WR. We're putting a lot of expectation on Popo and Hayes to be quality MLBs, should have gone and gotten a top player there. ... but yeah, we do need Haulcy to make our back 5 lock down.
It will be nice to have but we didn’t have a big speedy wr last year either and had #1 offense. Plenty of teams have good offenses without that

True. But, we had Cam Ward orchestrating the offense.

Beck is talented but he’s not Cam.

LSU 247 lmao. Thought he was wrapped up to them according to this board…

So tired of this narrative that players only come to Miami for money. As if LSU doesn’t have any money. Maybe they need to reallocate the funds from the children’s hospital to their NIL budget to get this guy.

We had Brown. He helped keep cover safeties more honest and off-ball. We have Moore this season; he's bigger but not near as fast.

What if I told you, in April of 2024, Cam Ward was a Day 3 NFL pick.

Miami *helped* Cam become NFL 1.1 Cam.

No, Beck is not as naturally talented as Cam. But he can be very close to as effective in this offense, given the pieces around him play like Cam's did. And they should, considering the OL should be even better, and we lost 2 skill kids on the entire offense that were drafted, one in the 7th round. Doesn't seem irreplaceable to me.

(No, I don't expect Beck to be Ward. And no, I don't expect to have the #1 offense in the country. But there's no reason it can't or won't be in the Top 20, which is all we need to win the league if the defense improves. If it doesn't, we're not winning ****, because not even the #1 offense in America could overcome that.)

I swear D$ should ask Midol or Tampax to sponsor this board.

Bunch a grown men riding the cotton pony.

You would think they new to recruiting but that can’t be since all them are former scouts and coaches

In fairness, we have screwed up numerous slam dunks, including D'Antre Robinson and Greg Smith.

This board has more 🐈s than it gets

Point taken, but not in the ham handed way I was trying to use it.

Perhaps better said, Haulcy might be the piece that helps prevent a loss to a GT or a Syracuse, but is he really the piece that is getting Miami to 10+ wins and an appearance in ACCCG?

Mario and Haulcy are going to flip an L to a W...

Sarcasm aside, I agree with you.

I’m a Beck fan. I just believe we owed him more weapons (WR) to maximize the potential of this offense. We failed to deliver. That doesn’t mean our offense will suck or that Beck is garbage. It will likely be good to very good…I was hoping for great, again.

One of my favorite things about Mario is allowing me the privilege of SEC/OSU/Oregon fans saying that Miami outbid them

Please make this happen so LSU of all places can say we overpaid
It warms my heart when these bag schools cry about loosing players to us because of money. As if they haven't been illegally paying off the books for all these years. As if the guys they get are going there because they love the campus and rich history. But its still fun being the boogyman, regardless of how silly it is.

Truth is, once you get into the top level players its always about the dollars. I would put it at about an 85% weight factor if we did a sliding scale or importance with the other stuff like location, traditions, ability to win etc filling out the rest.

Are the ***** ups attributable to non-position coach staff members or other factors unrelated to the staff?

I really wanted Robinson. Smith is a developmental depth piece.

“Miami came in at the last minute with a number the staff refused to match. They’d rather just focus those resources on the players that want to be here and not give one player that much power”

Did I do that right?

Brown is 6’1. Trader 6’1 and Daniels 6’2. You asking for something that doesn’t grow on trees. Even in the nfl how many teams have a big/fast outside wr? Look at the draft that just happened how many big/fast wrs were drafted? Majority of the best wrs in the nfl are 6’2 and below
