Miami is getting a big body back on the defensive line.

Defensive lineman Ahmad Moten will return for the 2026 season, giving the Hurricanes a proven piece up front. The South Florida native has been a steady part of Miami’s defensive line, helping both against the run and getting after the quarterback.

Moten, who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 325 pounds, finished last season with 31 tackles and 4.5 sacks. Over three seasons at Miami, Moten has put up 51 total tackles and 5.5 sacks, plus an interception in 2023.

His return gives Miami experience and size in the middle of the defensive line heading into 2026.

That one handed play against IU was pretty awesome. I can’t imagine how strong he is.

Moten does have the body, strength and quickness of the DT’s from the 80’s and 90’s.

you could tell it was bothering him too and having him at 70% strength and still being better than his backup was wild.

I am no where close to 300lbs but I imagine carrying 300+lbs and having to anchor and push off on that ankle as another 300lber is pushing back would be tough on one leg

Totally agree, this defense is going to feast this season.

 

Moten is old school. A lot of people on CIS doubted this kid. Watch him go Day 1 after helping the Canes reach the playoffs in back-to-back seasons.

 

Kid has get off and uses his hands extremely well for a DT.

If he was healthy imo he probably should have entered the draft. This is a weak dt class and I think He would have went high in the draft. He was garnering lot of buzz. With another season like 2025 he may be making himself into a top 20 pick honestly

He just might be the #1 dt in football coming in to the season and not sure many would argue against that notion
