The best offensive player in America (Jeremiah Smith), the best defensive player (Rueben Bain), and the player with the best Heisman odds (Fernando Mendoza) are all from Miami.

The overall talent in South Florida has been declining lately, but these things tend to go in cycles. Hopefully, we get an upswing now that the Canes are in a position to truly sweep up the best of the best.

Do you think the talent has been declining, or other areas of the country are just catching up? It seems to me like year in and year out, top tier talent still comes from SoFla and makes plays on NFL sundays.

He needs to play well vs PSU and OSU. Games I don’t see IU winning.

If JS is the best offensive player, he should win the heisman. Unless Bain out performs him. I’m sick of the heisman being a QB award
Except for last year when the best player was a QB and they decided this is the year we don’t want it to be a QB award 😂

I was on Mendoza. He is going to get drafted above Beck for all you "Cuban Emory" "We can do so much better" "Game Manager" peeps.

I was also high on Castellenos going to FSU in a system that actually fits his skillset.

In regards to Beck, he was never going to be the #1 pick in the draft. He lacks physical traits when moved off spot. Arm is average by NFL standards, his accuracy falls when he has to move his feet, and frankly he puts the ball in harms way too much.

He can be a top 100 pick, and he can still have a really good year at Miami, but he isnt top of draft material at QB.

I'm happy for the local kid from my alma mater, but let's wait until they play Oregon and Penn St. before making any proclamations. They've played Old Dominion, Kennesaw State, Indiana State, and Illinois. (I watched the Illinois-Duke game and was NOT impressed with Illinois.)

I liked Mendoza more especially off the Beck injury . Beck scares the **** out of me at times . This past Saturday night is one of those Beck games I always stress about.
Beck doesn’t settle into the big games. I just hope the rain has been the issues along with recovery from surgery. I’ve had lots and most take 12 months. Sure I was cleared for everything with a few months but overall performance wasn’t 100% until 12+ months.

I would have been happy with any. See that Mendoza has a younger brother or cousin on IU makes me wonder if that played a part in him landing there. Is the younger one any good?

Mendoza is a good player but let’s relax a second and let the season play out. Beck had a bad game and all of a sudden a guy we could have targeted is King ****? People were saying Beck will be #1 again after ND. I mean cmon with the weekly glazing.

Mendoza is not a great player

People are glazing him because they beat up on Illinois

No mention of his stats against powerhouse ODU

Trumpycane said since before the season started he’s not some amazing QB

Sweeping up the best would be Cooper, Johnson, Dia Bell, Russell, which are all going elsewhere right now. That's what we need, but are falling short. Maybe Mario can work some late magic. Texas pushing our teeth in with these local 5*. This still hasn't changed and we need it to. So sick of this.

Not a fan of Dia Bell or any HS qb wanting big money vs a portal QB.

Cooper- rb isn’t worth big money.

Russell isn’t even the best WR on his team. Give me nic in 2027.

Johnson hurts but dt is as much about numbers as quality. I’d love to sign 3 so we can develop kids like Moten, Russell, Jones. Land one elite and 2 others with high ceilings.

He certainly hasn't been great. I wonder how much of it is in the WRs and the ****** conditions he's played in. I also have no clue how a baseball player is so inaccurate throwing on the run.
