The best offensive player in America (Jeremiah Smith), the best defensive player (Rueben Bain), and the player with the best Heisman odds (Fernando Mendoza) are all from Miami.

The overall talent in South Florida has been declining lately, but these things tend to go in cycles. Hopefully, we get an upswing now that the Canes are in a position to truly sweep up the best of the best.

For the record, I wouldn’t want anybody other than Beck under center. He’s our QB and, on top of his talent and 28-3 record, I think he fits our locker room better than Mendoza.

You've been one to champion for Mendoza. What made you feel like Beck was a better locker room fit?
