Miami assistant coaches discuss 2017 class

You should take Billy Gibson Jr off your Canes 2017 commitment list.

Listening to Mike Rumph speak even about Herbert lets you know he had nothing to do with that kid coming here.

He basically said we got Herbert by default (which is true)...but a kid you coached...Mark Richt basically had to swoop in and seal...not trying to beat him up but ****.....he seems to have no fight. And how the **** was Herbert allll about uf and Michigan...how sway?. You were the coach over there..you aint sold em on the u?.

Last years class was rated 20-something but tell me a better class on the field in 2016

now, that isn't to say this current class is perfect or didnt have misses but lets see these horses run before jumping off buildings.

I like where Richt is taking this program( really love the upgrades on the Oline and team speed)

I agree, he is bringing great talent; however, my biggest concern moving forward is the Offensive scheme, particularly the predictability of the play calling. Will he make the proper adjustments or bring in an elite Offensive coordinator in the future? He doesn't seem to be as stubborn as Golden. We shall see.

I definitely believe the rumor that dude was bashing UM when he was at AH. Sure, it was probably toward the previous staff and not the school as a whole, but it is what it is. Nothing else makes sense really.

It was his first time playcalling in years. There was a rough patch, but we averaged 30+ points on a 5 game winning streak to end the year.

How did we get Herbert by default? Searles and Richt outrecruited UF from all indications. Michigan has Harbaugh and was making him a priority early on, not a ridiculous thing for a kid to get caught up in the hoopla of Harbaugh and the winningest CFB program of all time. We won the battle that's all that matters.

This is an absolute must-listen for Canes fans. I had the chance to sit down with Miami position coaches one-on-one to discuss the recruiting class. This was their first opportunity to discuss today’s signees publicly.

First interview: QB Coach Jon Richt
Second: RB Coach/OC Thomas Brown
Third: DL Coach Craig Kuligowski
Fourth: Safeties Coach Ephraim Banda
Last: Cornerbacks Coach Mike Rumph

Get Rumph's sorry *** the **** out of here

Rumph and Brown need to tighten up as recruiters. Just didn't do a good enough job this cycle. Especially Brown.

I think the truth is in the middle. The relationship was bad, I know that. American Heritage has been a problem for us since before he got there.

FWIW, I don't know the specifics, but all indications are he tried to give the previous staff his perspective on what might help and they expressed little interest in return.

I believe that relationship soured early in both directions. As we've heard with Artie Burns and Tracy Howard, the NFL consensus was we had talent but didn't coach it up a lick. That cannot sit well with a former DB who made his 1st round paycheck at UM.

Did he bash UM? From Golden's perspective, probably. From his perspective, at some point his top priority is the kids on his team, not a lame duck staff who isn't developing elite kids.

Miami never recruited American heritage like that when golden was here except for Sony Michel and to a certain extent Torrance Gibson. Signing kaileon Herbert is a nice starting point though

I don't give a **** what he said about the previous staff/program. He is doing a dog**** job of selling the program NOW though (which honestly wouldn't be that tough of a sell/differentiation). And these are kids he has a RELATIONSHIP with. A bad look all the way around.

He needs to do a better job locking down recruits, no one is debating that. The results are the results. Point is, in a few short years, the kids he has a relationship with are going to be gone, so if the strategy for AH is "we hired Rumph" it wasn't going to be a long-term solution anyhow.

The problem there is systemic. UM hasn't done **** for anyone's career in years. I suspect if Herbet and a few others are successful here the school will warm up fairly quick. So will others. If that happens, all of a sudden all these guys will look to be selling better.
