Miami Admin Remains the Problem

Disagree.
Willing to spend more $, getting Zo and Rad is a huge positive change. When time to move on from Mario, I have more faith that Rad will make the right move than previous ADs.
I was never sold on Mario, but we’ll see. He’ll have a couple more years regardless. At least he’ll bring in some good players.
The process is what shows how good of a program u are, the results are still tbd but if u dont have a good process u are hoping for results instead of fixing the problem

See, the problem is every year we start this blame game and everyone has a different opinion, all while pointing out individuals or certain aspects of the program. It’s everyone. Our coaches teach stupid football. Our players, play, stupid football. Our administration accepts it. I’ve made the analogy before, but we’re basically the Dallas Cowboys of college football. A team living off of it’s past, who hasn’t been good in a very long time, who treats their football team/program like a country club. No care, no real desire to win, just talk…ALL talk.

Let me tell you about the things mentioned in this thread that would absolutely never ever ever happen:

- Hugh Freeze being hired as our coach would absolutely never ever happen
-Urban Meyer being hired as our coach would absolutely never ever happen
-Dan Mullen being hired as our head coach, maybe could happen if he got medicated

We have people in charge of this athletic department that continue to make decisions based on everything but truly the desire to win. Mario was hired here because he was “their guy.”
Central figures in the "they" you speak of who got "their guy" went and got "their guy" again this year. Fella by the name of Lionel Messi.
Rudy Fernandez? What a ******* nerd. The **** does he know about successful CFB?
Another swing and a huge whiff. Rudy Fernandez is an enormous asset to the university and anyone who is a canes fan should be very very thankful that Rudy loves Miami sports.

Not sure when many of you all will learn that this program will be nothing until the people pulling the actual strings are changed.

It’s not TVD. It’s not our coordinators. It’s not the refs. We have people in charge of this athletic department that continue to make decisions based on everything but truly the desire to win. Mario was hired here because he was “their guy.” We all know that we were keeping Manny but for Mario. Rudy Fernandez? What a ******* nerd. The **** does he know about successful CFB? Rad is clearly here collecting paychecks. Everyone from top to bottom is a ******* loser.

If you need another example, look at baseball. A once proud program that interviewed some very competent candidates only to turn around and hire the idiot who has been a large source of the problem. But yet again, Miami was more concerned with hiring “their guy” instead of who is the most competent.

Laranaga is the only real coach in the entire place and had to send us his wiki because the geniuses in the AD never heard of him.

And yet some of you all think a new QB solves our problems 💀
If you remember a couple of years ago people wanted coach L fired. The admin might be bad but they did not commit a single mistake against UNC. It was all on the players and coaches.

Beckham was more instrumental in the Messi stuff. he had that relationship. MLS Apple TV deal also helped as Messi gets a cut of that. nevertheless, JORGE Mas did a good job bringing Messi in after being a ****** franchise the rest of the time.

Mario has been average at best so far as a coach here.

That is 1000% false lol. It is actually the exact opposite.

I dont follow the baseball program as closely but when I heard the run down on the baseball coach process and they had a top guy from wake forest willing to come in and bring some top pitching and we said nah we good with corch on fired staff..
Yeah. That’s the Miami way.

We used our one-time get out of jail free card from austerity prison using Johnny Ruiz's Felon Bucks on the most Miami hire ever. We're a joke. We've always been a joke. We'll always be a joke.

This OP has been written three thousand times over the past five years and that's only because it took us that long to realize the Miami admin is the problem. Not Randy. Not Golden. Not Richt or Manny. They are incapable of making a smart athletic hire unless it lands on their feet because they're not interested in making good hires or even know how to do them.

We're just some stupid Miami Bubble school that thinks we can bro our way to victory while the rest of the country laugh themselves silly at how bad we get it wrong.

There was the beginnings of a coaching search, but the instant UGA let him go, he was the one and only choice. Golden was the last time there was an actual coaching search.

Golden was a miss but I don't think he was as bad as some have made him out to be. He built that 2017 squad that won 10 games and it's not exactly fair to hold him to the same standard as other coaches, when for literally his entire tenure he had to deal with the NCAA threatening to shut down the program. You think it's hard for Cristobal tell sell the offense? Try selling a recruit on the program when he is being told by other coaches that UM is getting the death penalty. And despite that, he still recruited a lot of guys that ended up getting drafted.
if only he’d have done a search for a DC

What about Mario’s resume makes you believe he wouldn’t have been hired if a proper search was done?

110% true. Even with Mario's presumed shrewdness .... maybe we built it but THEY didn't come. I mostly blame suspect NIL, which is partially an admin thing in a way. The benefactors (other than Ruiz) give plenty but for salaries and academics and facilities not for the current version of "bags" (now known as NIL). Same old story there. Maybe a bad example but think Cormani. If we had the right bucks in the right place we would do much MUCH better than TVD and Jaden Davis and other players that are proving NOT to be championship talent no matter who coaches them.
This right here. The only other viable option to me was kiffin and he would ignore defense and the trenches

Let’s be realistic. I’m not a fan of Mario Cristobal. Never have been and probably won’t be for the foreseeable future.

There were 2 options to run this program (3 if you include keeping Manny Diaz)

Mario and Kiffin. Don’t think Kiffin was ever even considered but those were your realistic options that were above average. Thinking the admin was going to hold interviews and end up hiring some offensive guru or the next Nick Saban or Kirby Smart, from scratch and unproven as a HC.. maybe like Dan Lanning… or find the existing HC that’s going to turn into Jimmy Johnson when he gets to Miami… those scenarios were never happening. They would have botched it even worse.

Pretty happy they didn’t try to hold a coaching search and just had their guy

On top of this… let’s say they went freeze kiffin lanning and Mario and it wasn’t Mario. They’d burn campus down

Of course not. That’s the point.

I wasn’t a Mario guy either.
Kiffen would be a disaster. He cares more about fishing than recruiting. Mario is at least a guy who eats sleeps and breathes this.
He has shown willingness to make changes but we need a strong 2024 class to supplement 2023. You aren’t a playoff program when couch and Flagg are in your two deep and you don’t play a running back who can gain more than 10 yards on a carry.
