And yes I agree that Mesidor has been our best DE this year

Bain wasn’t a 5 star because he’s not a prototype DE and he’s not a DT. He won’t be a DT in the NFL. He doesn’t have the frame for it but people keep throwing that out there when he’s not a prototype DE

I don't disagree with you mostly if we're talking #1 overall pick is the expectation. First rounder, probably properly rated.

Only comment I'll say that may contradict your statement a bit is that some teams have done creative things to slow him down with their blocking. Them knowing where 4 is every play has helped our other DL eat in 1 on 1 when they aren't being tackled/choked from behind.

With that said, he's had a bit of regression mid season when he is in open space. Vs the run and on the way to qb. Has me questioning if he got banged up along the way and is playing through it.

This thread is pretty wild. Only thing I got to add is maybe we shoulda given the guy who rushes the passer by throwing 300+ lb giant humans out of his path a bit more rest earlier in the year?Might not have crazy threads like this if that happened.

Hope he sacks this guy from Pitt 3+ times on Saturday. Would be a great end to a great season

Bain is a defensive tackle moonlighting as a defensive end. Its a James Williams situation all over again except luckily for us Bain is a far better defensive end than James was safety

Bain isn’t gonna benefit from staying. Only at the next level will he take that next step. As of rn, he is a tweener. At his weight he is having trouble finishing plays, but he’s also not quite big enough to play inside. The NFL is the only place that can get Bain right, whether that’s him losing or gaining weight, luckily he has the talent to be a 260-265lb DE or a 290-295lb DT.

Depends what your definition of production is

Bain (at least up until last game, I haven't checked this week), leads the nation in pressures and pass rush win rate…And believe me that shows on the tape that NFL gas will see…He is a game wrecker

He's just getting a little unlucky (with qbs getting rid of the ball or ducking under him in the nick of time) I was also surprised on two different half sacks (one was at home, so if anything the official scorer should have gave him benefit of the doubt) he didn't get anything for, just saying.

I do agree he has slowed down half a step over past couple weeks and has trouble finishing plays.
