McElroy on rebuilding/modern era football

LMFAO! Success really spoils you. This is the first time Bama has lost 2 games in a season since 2010 and all of a sudden they have deep issues. Both of their losses this year have been by a combined 4 points. Bill O'Brien never impressed me as a playcaller but you gotta laugh at the arrogance of fans who expect perfection year in and year out. I am sure their message boards are filled with lunatics saying sh*t like the game has passed Saban by and he needs to be fired or retired. Majority of the programs (including UGA) would give up their first born to have the kind of long term success Bama has sustained, and this is with constant coaching turnover. College football fans are lunatics.

He has a point on NIL.

Kids (a few anyway) getting six figures-plus before even playing is ridiculous. Too late now though. The major programs and Conferences were too busy competing with one another and the NCAA too obsolete to have a vision for the future. Now it’s a Wild West with different states having different laws.

And before any comparisons to getting paid in the league, the NFL teams pay the player, with a rookie scale and team salary cap (and minimum). With a Player’s Association representing and negotiating a CBA for the players. Different model than NIL.

Oh it is. Lol. These fools just won the title in 2020, played for another title game last season. Lol

But hey, that’s standard. I can’t knock it.

From what I understand, these folks aren’t, too, happy about the overall season. Many felt UT was the better team when Bama narrowly escaped, & felt that had Ewers stayed healthy, that would’ve been a L. They were also upset w/ how they needed a last second TD to beat A&M after A&M shocked them last yr, & they’ve had a big issue w/ that DB room, particularly Ricks from LSU. All in all, they feel they are lucky to have only 2 losses. I’ve checked in on some of their game chats in close games & yeah, they’re upset at this season.

I’ve watched several Bama games & they look very 2003 Canes-ish, & I guess their point is nipping this chit in the bud immediately.

Bama seems to be lacking the elite WRs they’ve enjoyed for the past half dozen seasons. At least from what little I’ve watched.

And Heisman Young missed the TAMU game and a lot of the game before. His backup is more freshman Hurts-like than Tua-like.

Whinny Tide fans.

Yea; the WR core, as I eluded to in another thread, has not been up to their standards. Burton is a good WR, but he’s not a WR1. Bama have been enjoying WR1 x 3 on the field at the same time for the past several seasons.

But I get it; this is a spoiled fan base, both from their old heads & newer generation fan base. They can’t handle “this disappointment.”

****, when we had our run, we, too, scoffed at losing more than 1 game in a season. I know I was irritated af in 2003. Still remember being at Claims Jumpers in Long Beach w/ a Nebraska, FSU, Michigan, & a slew of SC fans who were clowning as we narrowly escaped WVU. The season just felt off compared to 2000 - 2002, & it was. Little did I know, 2003 would be the last of our best years.

I agree with the delusional take of yearly expectations being championship or bust and the year being a failure if that goal is not reached lol. That should resonate with every cane fan viewing this era with Ken Dorsey shades. We have a coach who can build and recruit. Let's hope he can develop those other skills by hiring competent coordinators who want to belong rather than making this place a simple stepping stone or a stopping place. We need coaches to meet these kids where they are in life and teach the x's and o's. I'm tired of UM hiring coaches who are one or the other. Do your homework and search. It is not supposed to be easy to sift through the guys just looking for a paycheck versus those who want to teach and lead young men. Not every coach has to be a household name. Which I am sure Cristobal has now learned does not always work lol. Hang loose my braddahs

Well, eventually a "down" year had to happen and it happened for Bama this season. I've seen some very uncharacteristic mistakes, still, this team is loaded enough to rebound in the next few seasons.

Georgia looks like the next overly dominant force right now, they dominate the middle of the field and go from there. I hope they match up with a somewhat healthy Ohio State team, this would be a tremendous battle

He made great points as to why I’m not gonna say the bama dynasty is dead but they are having issues they s usually don’t such as tons of penalties and not beating the teams as bad as they used to on the road they have been struggling alot

Kids have always been getting 5 and 6 figures before playing a snap in college.

Ppl just hating it now becuase it’s public knowledge and anyone can do it.

Bama losses have absolutely nothing to do with OBriens play calling. LMAO

Perhaps we should consider this:

Bama hasn't fallen off near as much as other programs have caught up with coaching, recruiting, development, and retaining the right athletes on their teams.
