Matt Canada

Got ya, Maryland actually got slightly worse when Canada left then.

371 YPG (canada)-> 343
28.5 PPG (canada)-> 25.3

With that said, its still not appealing. NCST didn't retain Canada, LSU didn't retain him, and now Maryland parted ways with him as well.

Canada wasn't retained at Maryland the same reason Keith Heckendorf wasn't retained at UNC. New coaches want to bring in their own guys and Canada was interim HC.

How is that spread that Mike Locksley brought in working out? Again its more pieces to the puzzle than the simple piece eveyrone like to harp on (spread).

that one year at LSU....can Manny Diaz really risk his career on Canada?

Hire the guy LSU got rid of after 1 season that now has one of the best offenses in college football in a very long time? If anything his stock has gone down because of LSU's success this year. With that said, Manny probably loves him

You do realize Steve Ensminger was responsible for LSU's offense last year, Canada was at Maryland. So the dramatic change from last year to this year was on Ensminger, how is his stock?

Would rather be waiting in an ER clinic in Canada with appendicitis.

I have always liked his approach and would take him in a heartbeat. There are maybe a few guys I would look at before him. He was my top choice when we took Enos and I do not think his offense is exactly like Enos, they are similar in being multiple and it stops there (and multiple doesn't mean lining up in the I-formation and that you don't run tempo), but I think he has a good feel of how to call and setup plays. Guys using his one season at LSU as reason not to hire him or the same ones wanting Kevin Johns (who was fired at Indiana) and Rhett Lashlee (who was let go the corporate way at Auburn by being told to seek more experience at UCONN).

I heard Manny played Canada in Tecmo Bowl and couldn't even beat his defense with Bo Jackson. Die to this, I expect him to be the next OC.

Do you guys really not know that Steve Ensminger was the OC last year? He is also the OC this year.
Actually nope. I barely paid attention our Canes after first two weeks. Who the heck is Steve Ensminger? When did knowing something become required to post here, it is required for writers on nay newspaper in the country.

Manny's last game as MissState DC was against NCSU in Belk Bowl and Matt Canada was the Wolfpack OC.
That was also Canada's last game at that school.

I still think this will be a tough hire for CMD. Coaches have to be looking at future of CMD/Blake team going into next season.
this eliminates a lot of candidates who would be interested but due to long term concerns over Manny's and Blake's future.

I don't like what people are saying about his personality because we need to be careful with that for this hire. No stubborn types who have trouble dealing with others. With our team culture issues on offense it's gotta be somebody who understands personal psychology and can motivate different types of people. Not a tyrant and not a softie, but a little of each at the right times. That's why I'd prefer a guy who's moved around and shown he can consistently produce with different groups of guys, even if it's at a lower level.

In 2018 Ensminger was the lone OC and they had a decent, but not spectacular, offense (#38 in ppg). Then Joe Brady was hired as the co-OC in 2019 and they are #1. I don't think credit is due to Ensminger for the offensive improvement.

Brady is passing game coordinator, and we know he brought the offense from the Saints. My point is they made this Gigantic leap with the Same OC, not a change from Canada. Ensminger still calls the plays and decides if and when Brady gets to call any, he was just open to new ideas which Brady obviously brought in. Shouldn't all OC be willing to hone their craft, improve, and implement new ideas that work?

Sounds like good traits of an OC to me.
