Mateer in Trouble?

Do I believe he's never bet on sports before? Absolutely not- he's full of it

These kids are in college, obviously all of them betting on the NFL, NBA, Golf, etc. As long as you're not betting on your respective team, then there really should be no issues here

if youre going to advertise sports odds during broadcasts and partner up with gambling companies, then players should be allowed to gamble on any game theyre not playing in.

Yeah, just a bit of hypocrisy. ESPN has a gambling site, promotes its site and gambling during its broadcast of games. Yet eager to report & act shocked when athletes are tied to sports gambling.

The screenshots are real. He has essentially admitted as much ("it was an inside joke with my teammates").

Even if it doesn’t catch up with him now. It is a giant red flag for NFL team.

Why dont you believe the screenshots are real? He is admitting it was an "inside joke" and denying gambling ever. Seems he is admitting they are real, just not for betting. Do I think the guy he is sending money to is a bookie? No. Could Mateer have thought a friendly bet with his teammate like I bet you $100 bucks UCLA beats USC would not be considered gambling? Yes. Perhaps he thought it was only betting like draftkings or vegas but a bet is bet regardless of who the house is.

Yeah if they are able to find more of these timing "coincidences" it is night-night for this guy's career. NBA is doing lifetime bans for dudes with zero tolerance. You'd think the NCAA—maybe even SEC—would want to make an example to dissuade others.
