If police started going to peoples houses -- even crazy ones -- to confiscate forearms, I cant imagine right wing rage. They'd be questioning all sorts of rights and authority issues. Not to even mention all the gunfights occurring at those folks houses when the ATF shows up. Ruby Ridge on steroids..

Who is Robert Card - the person of interest in Maine mass shooting

The person of interest in the Maine mass shooting that left at least 18 people dead has been identified as a trained firearms instructor who spent two weeks in a mental health facility over the summer.

The buck stops with the FBI... but Maine definitely deserves blame. Just like in NY (also a red flag law state) "missed" the Buffalo mass shooter.

If the FBI wasn't worried about conservatives, they could use those resources for ACTUAL threats. But they've been pre-occupied with trying to find "domestic terrorists" and finding ways to pad their Incentive-Based stats for "white supremacy"... looking at Ultra MAGA peeps

This guy must have some serious mental health problems then... worse than we all thought!

A dude is Ultra MAGA and is going to places where the majority of people that go to those places are probably also conservative and/or MAGA.

There’s no need. That’s why there would be rage. There are millions of Americans who own even more fire power than what was used here but never, ever in a million years do what he did. There are people with disorders that fall into that category as well but there’s laws to prevent this guy from owning weapons just like there was laws to prevent Nicholas Cruz owning weapons. Where are the mental health professionals to start that process?

There‘s blame to be passed everywhere in these situations. All health care professionals have the right to deem him a risk which would make him surrender his weapons. This guy definitely qualifies.

Who would ever, if they valued their guns, EVER seek out mental health treatment? They'd be effectively signing those guns away.

Exactly, thats what I'm saying.The GOP says mental health is the issue, not guns. Yet, would never go for confiscating guns from people clearly with head problems (in many cases serious ones).

Is mental health not the issue? Well adjusted people don't go on shooting sprees.

This can be done while respecting due process. Likewise, abuse of the red flag process should be punished with a minimum jail time sentence because anti-gun people are already abusing the system.

As for all these psycho evaluations those that are to deem someone mentally unhealthy are afraid to do so. Can’t mess with everyone’s rights. They just pass the buck. i just don’t get why the youth today are willing to elect these old politicians who failed their own generation. they Are too busy with their personal agendas they have no clue to the young generation of today. It’s sad.

I know hindsight is 20/20… but seems like instead of asking him to turn himself in, they should have alerted authorities. Now, that doesn’t mean it would have prevented it… but u never know
