Off-Topic Mass killings

That's exactly why it has to come from a help perspective, not a law enforcement perspective. It should be part of a more comprehensive data protection bill. The problem is that one party will put in enough loopholes to weaken the whole thing for their side. Look at the EU's GDPR requirements. You can basically have your data erased with a few exceptions. Nobody's even suggested that here. It's too valuable as a political tool and a corporate tool.
There is no “help perspective.” There is no database that the government can’t access. We just had banks and telephone companies give up data without even being subpoenaed for it. They just handed it over bc they supported what was going on. There is no privacy. So we shouldn’t be giving any agency the ability to gather anymore info than they already do, without at least having to work for it, or having to go through improper channels that once found out, will make them look like the crooks they are.

This leads to you walking up to the gun store counter, and them saying, “oh I’m sorry sir, your Google search has been flagged. Here’s a 100 page apology and appeal form. Please turn it in and your case will be heard in 12-24 months.”

They already have this data. They're already using it for purposes you wouldn't like. The difference is using their machine learning engine to find warning signs and return results for free counseling based on search criteria instead of more extreme results like how to guides.

You’re being too optimistic. Wait until that “free counseling” service ends up being an FBI agent, urging some kid to shoot up a mall. And then a year later when the world finds out, it’ll have happened 2 more times and it’ll be too late. How many more times does this scenario have to happen until we all learn, we aren’t dealing with trustworthy people?

The scenario you outline is something that needs to be addressed regardless.

But it won’t so why are they getting another tool to use it?

This is a great idea on its face, but it won’t be used how it is supposed to. It’s a shame but it’s the truth. And I will not support anything like this bc of that.

That's not the way machine learning works. They have the tools and the data. They're currently using it for great things like showing you other movie titles you might like.

I’m talking about the crimes they will commit under the guise of “free counseling”

Straight from the US Navy. You think they won’t use Google as a pretext to harass people who don’t like the government?

“Representing ill-will toward US Government or DON personnel”

@JD08

Insider Threat Awareness month…. Might as well just call it Semi fascist ultra MAGA boogie man month

These are the same people who suppressed dissenting medical and scientific information, pump up fake narratives, downplay real stories, lie about spying on the public and when caught go after the whistleblower, and push narratives about the others being evil. At some point have to say they have shown they can’t be trusted.
