Marty Brown TD that wasn't

We have had like 20 runs over the last few seasons where a runners forward progress was “stopped” more than that, and the play continued. That was genuinely one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen. Seriously. His forward progress wasn’t ever even remotely stopped.

The really awful part is if the refs watch any film and do any kind of scouting, which they should be doing, they know this is what we do. We rugby scrum and push piles. Like i said we do this every game. Multiple times per game. And our back is stopped much more than Marty was, but we’re still moving so they play rightfully continues.

That was SO bad. So so so so so bad. I’d have loved to have played alternate universe and seen how this game turns out if we go up 20-0 there, as we 10000000000.0% should’ve. That call was so wrong it’s not even real life.

Unequivocally the worst call I’ve ever seen in person. I’m still mad about it. Changed the game completely
In years past, this exact play would have turned into a catastrophic atmospheric for Miami.

It didn't.

No where near fully exorcised of that demon, but so far this season is sjlwing signs of light.

They absolutely did. A completely blown call that thankfully didn’t cost us a game.

20-0 and that game is OVER. We’re not remotely stressed the rest of the night. It’s a bludgeoning and I’m not being a homer when I say the game probably ends something like 34-0 or 34-7. What a genuinely ridiculous call.

Yeah, and the refs admitted they screwed up the call on Cleveland Gary in 88. Still cost us the game and a likely NC.

No excuse for blowing the whistle that early. His forward progress wasn’t stopped and he was not even being touched when the whistle blew.

The only other time I can recall such an egregious early whistle was an NFL playoff game between the Browns and Oilers around 1989ish.

Moon threw an obvious backwards pass that was fumbled, Clay Matthews Sr, picked up the fumble and ran for a TD. Some dumbass ref blew the whistle instead of letting the play, play out. Decided a playoff game as I recall.
