Marshall Faulk Telling Miami Hurricanes why he didn’t play at Miami

I head Jimmy Johnson say that Faulk was one of the best RBs he ever saw. Just watch one series when Faulk was at SDSU, and you knew he will be a HOF RB. We missed on a great one. Hopefully, we won’t miss the next one

Marshall was the second best college back I ever saw, behind Barry Sanders. I really wish he would have ended up here. Dennis really messed up. You tell him that while you're curious to see what he'd do at CB, you're going to give him a shot at RB first. What a complete F-up.
I have to agree. I saw Barry up close with my seats on the 50 yard line when he was at Oklahoma State vs Iowa State during his Heisman campaign. Best back I've ever seen!!!!

Erickson wasn't the only coach to get it wrong. Nearly every D-1 coach wanted Marshall to be a DB which is why he wound up at San Diego State.

Some of these elite players would come in on what we use to call “celebrity visits.”

we thought these kids were not really serious, just came for a free trip.

Another guy that was no. 1 in the country who visited was Robert Straight from Texas. He came in wearing cowboy boots, which was unusual. He and Terry Kirby were 1-2 that year. Kirby did OK at UVA, don’t even know what Strait did at Baylor.

Do not get it twisted. Marshall Faulk is the GREATEST RB IN THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL. Yes you read that correctly. I said the GREATEST RB IN THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL. With all do respect to Jim Brown, Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, etc, none of these other RBs had a transcendent skillset quite like Marshall in terms of being equally dominant in both the running game and passing game. He is arguably the only RB in history that could've been extremely productive & effective in any era. Not only that but he's also one of the smartest players for his position in history as well. That's not my opinion. That's what Kurt Warner, Mike Martz, and **** Vermeil said about him. He understood everyone's assignment on Offense including his own. He understood pass protection. He also understood route concepts & how to read coverages. When you take all of these things into consideration, he's quite simply the GOAT. Nothing more, nothing less.

This is why you have to recruit LA hard. There's so much talent in the state that the elite players can't all stay home.

“Other schools were recruiting him as a DB too.”

So, basically Erickson’s eye for RB talent was just as ****** as everyone else’s.
