Marquise Lightfoot is not hurt

Physically he doesn't have the frame to carry 250+ pounds. He probably maxes out around 245. But guess who played his entire HOF career at 245 ? Oh yeah, his d end coach JT so I am not too worried if he is 230 right now. ML has already proven he can produce.
Yea it doesn't look like he has that frame, but he still good. Just needs more snaps, I like his role where he was last season. I would leave him in that exact role again.

I don't understand the urge to pack weight on Lightfoot. You just saw a playoffs where he pressed the best WR in the country one game, then chased down the Heisman winning #1 overall pick QB in another. Move him around, use him almost like Parsons, I'll bet Hetherman has to cackle like a mad scientist when thinking up ways to deploy Lightfoot.

Considering how Heatherman uses Lightfoot why would he need to be 255?
To play every down and effectively set the edge against the run for 4 quarters and not be gassed.

And he’s 6’5… 255 on that frame would be acceptable but not required to be durable and have sustainable career. There are outliers on that

He can have a sustainable career exactly like he is. He doesn’t have to gain 25 lbs

245lbs is probably the desire. And you see how he handles it. For his weight he is definitely pretty strong/powerful. If you can pack on more mass without him losing his athleticism, you do it.

Am I misremembering? I could’ve sworn every announcer throughout the playoff run said he was 6’5 250. Is that a roster exaggeration or was he actually up to 250?

IMO the worst thing you can do is force him to add weight.
Let his body adapt to his age.
He has intangibles that you can’t teach.
effort, motor, tenacity.

Those 3 things require no talent but he is full of all 3 and a lot of “talented” talent players have failed cause they don’t have that.

If he has freakish strength there's no reason to pile weight on.
Eh i still think he should, but that’s just from looking at him idk how much he weighs now. If he’s gonna play dline he’s gonna need more mass, he’s young too so it may happen gradually

This is it right here. This kid doesn’t fit a narrative but if you’re wise he is a piece that is like none other

Embrace what he is and “hide” what he isn’t

Might not play 500 snaps in a season but being that utility guy who can do multiple things well is invaluable. Let the NFL decide if they want to pack weight on him and make him a DE or keep him as a OLB. For us keep him in the role that he’s in.

This is what I’ve been saying. At 230-235 pounds he’s not going to be an every down de setting the edge against 310-320 pound OL. He’s used as a weapon which is fine. He lines up in two point , three point stances on the edge , spies or blitzes from Mike ,drops in coverage etc. He’s never going to be a complete 270 pound edge here like 3 & 4. But will still have a huge impact on games. Lightfoot is a football player. He doesn’t have a box to fit in.
