Bump

LINE THIS KID UP EVERYWHERE ON THE FRONT SEVEN NEXT YEAR

HE IS A DEFENSIVE WOSS ARMY KNIFE FOR OUR FRONT SEVEN.
He’s not going to be an every down DE here so people should just let it go

You don’t take a kid that’s barely gained weight here and slap weight on him just to make him a run stopper

You keep him in the lab and just let him be who he is. A niche pass rush and playmaking machine

The Al Goldens of this board would stick him at the buffet table and put him in no man’s land where he’s still not big enough to stop the run, and now you’ve lost part of what makes him great

Can never replace 3 and 4 but Blount/Lowe/Lightfoot/Scott etc there’s some freaks on the DL next year

Preach. I'm fully confident JT is going to develop him into one of the best rushers in the country next season. If we add Wilson, our pass-rush unit will be absolutely disgusting. That's a top unit in the country. What made Bain and Mesidor so elite is that they were so strong in the run game, and I think that's an area we will take a step back in.

Blount is going to be a dominant player here I think. Just a freak. Plus we get a little hung up on the whole DT or DE thing but Heatherman throws that stuff out the window

If we land Wilson and Moten comes back that’s just a nightmare up front

I’m in the middle here. I think he is adequately strong enough to be an every down DE next year. Sure there maybe times where it’s not ideal against say a top tier bruising running attack but more often than not what he brings to the table otherwise just outweighs the weight issue. I see a kid that can hold up at the point of attack against the run against more P4 tackles than not.

Agreed. The teams we play should dictate where Lightfoot lines up.
But I can see him used at LB, rush end, dropping in coverage in the flats effing WRs and RBs up in screens and RPOS, blitzing the a-gap.... kid is a bonafide weapon and should be used as such.

What I said was probably too standoffish because he of course could be an every down guy. For now I think he mixes in perfectly as that guy you can move around while the freaks up front do their work.

He’s a mismatch nightmare with his motor so I’d just avoid trying to make him take on 320lb tackles all the time just to make him more of an every down guy. We will have others for that
