Mark Walton

Even though his ypc weren't great last year this kid has stood out to me from day 1.

He runs tough for his size and has quick feet. His vision between the tackles, which to me is the most important attribute for a running back....is outstanding.

Yearby is a very good back in his own right but Walton has a higher ceiling. To me he's our best offensive player and is going to be a very good pro. His balance and quick feet jump off the screen every time he touches the ball.

Walton has elite athleticism, balance, and can run through tackles. His speed is improved as well this season, which is impressive from a developmental standpoint. I said long ago D. Cook was eating off the FSU system/o-line, and now look what coaching can do for Miami's running game. Walton could easily have a 1,500 yard season if he stays healthy.

I disagree I think Yearby is more consistent. Walton has a hard time holding onto the ball I think he has already fumbled like 2-3 (some ruled down but still a problem) times he doesn't protect it as well as Yearby. Also seems to go down pretty easy sometimes. I see the potential, it's there. Just needs to work on a few things.

nah, Walton is better. Yearby is a good change of pace back; he doesn't have the athleticism of Walton.

wat fumbles?

I can only think of one last night.
The non-call around the FAU 25 yard line was a fumble.

Only fumble i saw last night was Malcolm Lewis though, not Walton

I'll wait to crown anyone until they do it consistently against much better competition. Looking at the stat line though, he did what he was asked to tonight.

This. He ran roughshod over FAMU and FAU and posters seriously talking about him as a second round draft pick and the next Mcgahee? Let's see what he does against FSU before he gets placed anywhere near Canes royalty.

Walton did what he was supposed to do and a little more in certain instances. He had some very nice runs. He's not in the top 5 UM backs for sure and I don't think anyone is saying he is. There certainly was some contention about whether he was the best back in the stable and I think he put that talk to rest. Homer is next most talented (beast) and may and up being better. Yearby and Gus bring up the rear.

I see a lot of non running backs posting... running backs need a lot of qualities that can't be taught with cones or drills. Vision balance and toughness aren't contagious.

The tools are there. You can see it. You can only play who's in front of you. If he didnt dominate these teams ,what would u say then?

Not many teams have a 2nd back like yearby though. It's a luxury to be honest. Yearby would start for a bunch of teams in the country

Despite my consistent belief in and support of Walton, I still feel that its justifiable for another fan to want/need to see him perform against stiffer competition, **** I want to see it for myself.

No player should be negatively pegged for their performances under Golden's UTough and Wefense tutelage. Its a clean slate for everyone.

Lol that's it right there Golden was more interested in creating slogans and hash tags than a good team. No one should be judged for being coached by that clown.

Walton looked very good last night. The spin move was a thing of beauty and then he was also able to get into the endzone.

He carries the team on his back running like a man whose team depended on him and the thread goes down the not one of UM top 5 backs path.

Walton is a sophomore. Ran as hard as I've seen a player play in some time. That flip of the switch and emotional lift is what people are expecting of our QB.

I was wrong about Walton. Based on his play last year, I didn't think he could be a #1 back. He looks like a totally different back this year.

People also forget that the kid was supposed to be a senior in high school last year.

Homer is another kid that's young, pretty sure he's only 17 or just turned 18, and kid has been an animal on ST's.

Coach brown has got these backs looking nice. Better balance, better builds, quicker, more north south with small cuts.

We have always said what good coaching could do for these south Florida kids.

Marc is playing well which is good for us. Playing with a bit of an attitude also - running with determination. We will know what we really are when we line up against better competition. Kudos to our rb coach and OL as well.
