Mark Walton

I said all offseason that our fans were sleeping on Walton. He was easily our most explosive back last season. Never understood why he was so underrated by our fanbase.

Even though his ypc weren't great last year this kid has stood out to me from day 1.

He runs tough for his size and has quick feet. His vision between the tackles, which to me is the most important attribute for a running back....is outstanding.

Yearby is a very good back in his own right but Walton has a higher ceiling. To me he's our best offensive player and is going to be a very good pro. His balance and quick feet jump off the screen every time he touches the ball.

I'll wait to crown anyone until they do it consistently against much better competition. Looking at the stat line though, he did what he was asked to tonight.

This. He ran roughshod over FAMU and FAU and posters seriously talking about him as a second round draft pick and the next Mcgahee? Let's see what he does against FSU before he gets placed anywhere near Canes royalty.

We saw it last year...the kid just has a knack for finding the end zone. Something that seems so elementary in the game of football...but this is one kid that just seems to know how to get across the goal line and make it look easy.

I'm pretty sure I said he is a FIRST round draft pick, and ONLY if he keeps his performance consistent against them

i see why he is the starter and yearby is the back up, a great combo. we will depend on our run game and defense this year.

I disagree I think Yearby is more consistent. Walton has a hard time holding onto the ball I think he has already fumbled like 2-3 (some ruled down but still a problem) times he doesn't protect it as well as Yearby. Also seems to go down pretty easy sometimes. I see the potential, it's there. Just needs to work on a few things.

Manny Diaz is made for this team. What a damned pleasure to see a bunch of maniacs attacking the opposition. God, what a difference on D.

Kudos to Mark who may have shown flashes of becoming the successor to McGahee tonight.

i agree. Manny Diaz might have been at Miss St. and Texas runnng a defense that was really tailor made for south florida kids.

Seems to me that the staff has decided that Yearby will be the work horse for those reasons mentioned. Yearby will be the back grinding yards in games like FSU and Notre Dame.

Walton tends to dance alot while Yearby is a North south runner who is better between the tackles.

He looked really good, for sure. The last run was a nice one where he bounced it out to the right. He is strong for his size, too.

Yearby looked good again, too.

I really enjoy seeing our bowling ball FB knocking defenders out of the way - he's got the build of the type of FB I like to have on a team.

It would have been nice to see Edwards get a few balls, though. The game wasn't that close in the second half. Walton or Yearby will get banged up at some point this year and we'll need to use Edwards more - and maybe even Homer.

Is an animal.

Future 2nd day pick if he keeps this up.

Fournette got shut down v Bama. If he struggles against FSU it could be because our OL is getting trucked. That happens. Dude is gonna be great this year.

I am not sure what people are watching where they still argue Yearby is as good or better than Walton. I like Yearby, am and have always been a fan, but to me, it is not even close anymore. Walton is special. Yearby is good.

Sure, even the best backs get shut down from time to time. All I'm saying is crowning a guy based on FAMU and FAU is ridiculous.

He played these same type of opponents under Golden though and his ypc was what it was and used as criticism

If we had any depth at RB, he should have been able to take a shirt last year. Regardless, improving a lot against crap opposition doesn't tell me much. Let's see what happens going forward.

I can only think of one last night.
The non-call around the FAU 25 yard line was a fumble.
