Mark Walton should be moved to receiver

But not full-time. Hear me out:

Walton displayed superlative hands, particularly for a 17 year old freshman RB.

He struggled finding holes and finishing runs. Again, probably a product of a shaky OL and his inexperience.

Given the current situation at RB and WR, and to maximize the talent we have returning, it would behoove this staff to flex him out wide sometimes with Yearby or Gus at RB. Same with Yearby. Make those guys interchangeable parts of the passing game. You could even use Gray the same way.

Cager
Yearby
Walton
Herndon
Berrios
Lewis

These are all guys that Kaaya has proven he's comfortable throwing to.

Maybe one of the incoming freshmen is able to crack the lineup but I believe that we have the tools, we have the talent.

You don't have to "move" him to WR to line him up wide and throw it to him from time to time. I agree that Yearby/Edwards in the backfield and Walton or Gray split wide and getting the ball in space would be effective.
 
When Yearby got here I was hoping to see him get some run in the slot but he doesn't look like a fit there anymore. Walton can catch. OP may be on to something.
 
No need for him to be a wideout to flex him or any other back for that matter. I think Gray and some of the incoming recruits are better suited for that look though.

OP ive been screaming for that for a while.... HE should definitely be 3rd down back passing only.... DOnt care if we are showing our play calls he cannot run out of the backfield..he is an amazing receiver out of the backfield...the best weve ever had IMO..But he is a mediocre to below average runner
 
What I mean is make him a major part of the passing game. Folks look at who we have coming back at WR and begin to worry (for good reason) but when you consider that Walton, Njoku, Herndon, Yearby all caught 20 or more passes in 2015 you realize that we have weapons.

I wish we had a somewhat competent OL. Five wide including Walton, Njoku, Coley, Cager, Berrios and let Kaaya do his **** thing

We might be able to do this a little bit though because we can stress the defense with some quick slants and crossing routes which would slow down pass rushes. It will be great to see a competent OC use route combinations to get people open.

I know its frustrating to not see Gray getting PT...But he is not a WR...

We have a few guys at the spot that aren't necessarily stars, but using the right combinations will allow them to utilize what they do best. As excited as I am about no longer seeing our dog**** defensive scheme, I am probably more excited to see Kaaya with competent play calling.
 
Walton is an awful RB - mediocre at best - and should never be more than the 4th RB. I said earlier in the season, and folks piled on me, but the eyes don't lie. I don't like him as a RB AT ALL.

I like him as a receiving threat A LOT, and he should either be moved to WR full time or somehow used as a WR threat out of the backfield in a two back set.

You serious with this? The kid was a 17 year old true freshman playing against grown men. And I thought he ran very well. In fact, he is one of the players I am most excited about moving forward.
 
I loved what I seen out of Yearby catching the ball this year too. I didn't know he can catch the ball like that. Walton thoroughly impressed in that aspect as well. Edwards is coming back ready to play. He is a beast man
 
walton at wr would be a good thing tho. I'm drunk as heel right now tho....

Berrios, Herndon, Lewis, Dobard, Gray rotating in.

Redshirt every single incoming player not named Ammon Richards or Sam Bruce.
