Mark Walton should be moved to receiver

Walton almost went to Georgia or they were atleast his 2nd option becuz he was ALL CANE. Richt wanted him and will probably be our feature back next yr and that's no disrespect to yearby

You don't have to "move" him to WR to line him up wide and throw it to him from time to time. I agree that Yearby/Edwards in the backfield and Walton or Gray split wide and getting the ball in space would be effective.

llamar miller.

Walton is an awful RB - mediocre at best - and should never be more than the 4th RB. I said earlier in the season, and folks piled on me, but the eyes don't lie. I don't like him as a RB AT ALL.

I like him as a receiving threat A LOT, and he should either be moved to WR full time or somehow used as a WR threat out of the backfield in a two back set.

Not sure how people don't see this ! All you have to do is look at the numbers .Over 100 carries and one of the worst per carry averages in the nation at 3.5 and his longest run of 27 yds is as bad as you'll see for any RB with 100+ chances.

3rd down back yes, otherwise no.

How many TD runs did he have called back this year on stupid penalties?

this is a stupid idea. he may be best rb on team. why move walton to wr. it makes no sense. none at all. having a rb who can catch is an advantage to offenses.

yearby and walton are both great wr's out of backfeild, getting them on lb's is a huge advantage to miami. moving them puts them out wide with cb's on them not some mook lb.

yearby and walton both can be great rb's in richt's system. i know most think edwards will be number 1 back and he could be but with added weight and strength for walton he can be a between the tackles runner also.

moving him weakens one area rb and doesn't really help the other wr.

I think Walton could end up better than Yearby.. I was high on Yearby but folks were right he might not even be Graig cooper when he leaves here. But I appreciate the fact that he's out there competing.

particularly for a 17 year old freshman RB.

Walton turns 19 in two months. IDK why people think he is young. He reclassified, but he was held back a year previously. That was widely talked about here and elsewhere.

must have missed that.

anyway, only solidifies the argument that he should get more looks as a pass catcher

Think about it from a 7on7 perspective:

Kaaya
Yearby
Coley
Cager
Njoku

Rosier
Edwards
Walton
Berrios
Herndon

Shirreffs
Gray
Langham
Lewis
Dobard

Allison
Homer
Williams?
Davis?
Washington

I'm staying with my prediction that Walton becomes Richt's workhorse back. He was all over him at UGA.

We don't currently have a recruit that can challenge Walton for playing time... Homer isn't better than Walton; love Yearby, but his speed causes him to take punishing shots his body can't withstand all season; and though Gus has the potential to go beast more (if he had the right mindset), it's yet to be demonstrated consistently against decent competition...

Therefore, Walton must stay at RB... Besides, who says he'd make a good receiver??

Catching a ball out of the backfield, isn't the same as lining up out wide.

Why line him a WR when hes a match up problem catching the ball out the backfield?

to be fair he had tons of goal line carries (no business being the goal line back) where our o-line got pushed straight back and we either gained or lost yards . Id say he had about 15 carries like that, maybe more. That'll kill a ypc avg

OP ive been screaming for that for a while.... HE should definitely be 3rd down back passing only.... DOnt care if we are showing our play calls he cannot run out of the backfield..he is an amazing receiver out of the backfield...the best weve ever had IMO..But he is a mediocre to below average runner

I completely agree one hundred percent.

I've suggested him moving to WR when Gray is mentioned, but I don't know that he has the speed nor quickness to effectively get separation at the position.

If you take out 15 carries that still gives him an even 4.00 yds/carry. That's serviceable in the NFL but in the ACC alone there are 35 rushers who had a better avr than that. Yearby had a 4.89 .

His long run of 27 yds also leads me to believe he runs about a 4.7 40 and/or has very poor open field wiggle.

You serious with this? The kid was a 17 year old true freshman playing against grown men. And I thought he ran very well. In fact, he is one of the players I am most excited about moving forward.

Im with you I thought Mark did a really well job running the ball as a true freshman.....you better stop smoking that shyyyt lol jk

I loved what I seen out of Yearby catching the ball this year too. I didn't know he can catch the ball like that. Walton thoroughly impressed in that aspect as well. Edwards is coming back ready to play. He is a beast man

He better not run with his pads as high ss he did earlier. Both of those video of denzel perryman lighting someone up were him
