Mark Walton getting a tryout with the Dolphins

Hit the nail on the freaking head. Attacking this kid without living a day in his shoes is one of the most disgusting things you could do. A majority of the people on this board have not faced 1/100 of the adversity he has gone through in the first 20 years of his life.

As a fan of the hurricanes I want nothing but the best for Mark and would love to see him succeed in the city where he grew up, around the only true friends and family he still has. If he gets his mind right the sky is the limit. As a fan of the dolphins we just signed a kid I know has tremendous talent for peanuts. Would you rather have mark waton or Kallen ballage, bc I’m rolling with mark all day.

Do y’all truly think the dolphins are the only team that contacted him to come in for a tryout? Mark needs support more then ever and that support is in Miami with his true friends and family and not in a place that only cares about his football talent. It’s not like this guy is out raping and murdering people he had two weed charges(a drug that some people on this board probably use daily and is about to be legal in Florida) and an altercation in a parking garage. He may need therapy or he may need to be properly medicated(not with weed) but if he figures it out could be best RB out of UM since Lamar Miller and he probably is more talented.
I am glad that it appears things are going for the better hopefully. However, I wouldnt rush to judgement saying he is the best RB to come out since Lamar Miller...Duke and even Gus have done better in the league.
He needs to take full advantage of this opportunity.
I am not going to get my hopes up yet until he is on the final roster.

Walton realistically just has to beat out Myles Gaskin to make the 53 man roster, forget the practice squad. And I'm fairly certain he can do that, he's much faster and shiftier than Gaskin. I'd say the odds are above 50% Walton not only makes the roster but is active on game day.

Love duke when he was here but he has done nothing in the nfl and why the browns had to use a first on nick chubb. Gus didn’t even finish his career at UM and only got an opportunity bc of injuries. If you truly think Edwards has more talent then mark Walton you need to have your head examined.

If you took away the legal issues almost every person would take 21 year old who sat behind joe mixon(Walton) over the other two. He has to earn it obviously but facts are if he finishes his junior year the way he started it he is picked in the 1st two days of the draft which outside of duke going in the third(already touched on him not hitting expectations) has not happened since frank gore(3rd) in 2015 at the RB position.

duke is on his second contract and a nice one at that .

To say that Duke has done nothing in the NFL plus adding that Walton was Mixons backup clearly shows that credibility is lacking.
Duke is a top receiving RB in the NFL. Was signed to a new contract and actually plays well.
Bernard is Mixons backup.....not Walton..
Walton gained 34 rushing yards averaging not even 2.5 ypc...for the season!!!!! Receiving yards...41yards...for the season
Oh..and how many touchdowns does he have? Yeah never....
And it wasn't like he missed a bunch of games he was available for 14 games.
Duke has produced since day 1 in the NFL.....Walton was riding the pine...
Those are the facts....indisputable.
I loved Mark at the U...but get out of Fantasyland. There is a reason why it was easy and quick for the Bengals to get rid of him.

How many carries did Walton have with the Bungles?

He has 3 special teams tackles last year. Im pretty sure Gaskin doesnt have the special team ability of Walton. I see Walton if he can show in preseason ..making Gaskin go to the practice squad.

A rb group of:
Drake
Ballage
Walton

is pretty solid.

I always thought Mark could be similar to James White.

Funny you say that, I was thinking the same thing. You bring up a good point about special teams. I honestly can't think of any area that Gaskin checks the box that Walton doesn't, except for the fact Gaskin was never seriously hurt in college and Walton has a potential suspension looming over him. The crazy thing is that they're listed at the exact same height and weight, but put on the tape and Walton not only looks bigger, he plays much better. Gaskin just has the stats from running behind a great Washington OL that Mark never had.

Look at Bishop Sankey before Gaskin. He also put up big numbers, but didn't end up doing squat in the NFL. Nah, Mark is better than Gaskin any day.

Walton has the potential to be one of the best ST players in the NFL. I said when he left here that ST was his best chance to stick in the NFL.

I’m going to try not to drag one of our players name through the mud but duke Johnson is a scat back that has maxed out at $5 million per year contract. He has barley rushed for 1200 yards in four years COMBINED. Hence why I said the word potential. If your starting a franchise duke Johnson has already proved his role is the same as tevin Coleman, James white, or dion Lewis and he is paid as such.

Mark Walton has not gotten a true opportunity in the nfl yet. I brought up joe mixon bc he consider one of the best RBs in the nfl so yes it is not easy to get opportunities over him. I’m not saying your wrong about some of the things in your argument but mark Walton has more of a chance to become the next great 3 down back from UM bc of his potential. We already know what duke Johnson is. In the end I want all our guys to do well but facts are if Walton kept up his pace(almost 8 yards a carry) his junior year he was going to have better stats then duke and Lamar and he would have been selected in the first two rounds. I wouldn’t use the decisions made by Marvin Lewis(one of the worst coaches in the nfl) to try and make your argument about how Walton’s first season went.

I will give duke this though Hugh Jackson isn’t much better. And both organizations (Cleveland has greatly improved) were run like they were just trying to make money more then win games.

He had 14 games....not 4 games. I like the guy but lets keep it real. I was replying to a post saying that he has done better than Duke Johnson which is absolutely ridiculous. Stating facts.

I didn't even bring up the the fans who were claiming he was better than Saquon...SMH

It’s carries that counts, not games. How can you take that sample size and say he sucks. He was barely used.

As far as the Duke statement I’ll agree with you there, that’s a ridiculous statement. Some people just find a way to hate on our own players.

More potential bro. I thought Walton was a better college RB by the eye test as well so not really sure why your trying to say I’ve crowned Walton when I said he has a lot to prove but based on what I saw at UM I’m taking Walton if nothing off the field is considered. It is an opinion bc there is a **** ton of variables to consider and obviously mine differs from yours.

Look...he had a full season to show them and still was behind Giovanni Bernard.
Say what you want about Marvin Lewis but he has an eye for Talent...he just makes boneheaded game decisions. What about the other teams that didnt draft him for 4 rounds? Or after he was released they all had the opportunity to get him crazy cheap....crickets. Lewis took a chance on Mixon and even Drafted Walton to see where each stood.
Walton just didnt cut it. Plain and simple.
He needs to focus and work his butt off to stay on a squad plus try to kill it on special teams.
