Mark Matthews commits to TAMU in ambiguously ___ manner. Move On

Did anyone hear the analysis? I have no idea who the analyst is but he lost all credibility when he said Mathew’s was a reincarnation of Joe Thomas and was guaranteed to be a 1st round pick in 3 years. I couldn’t tell if he was kidding or not but that’s a level of hyperbole that loses all credibility. Listen to someone like Greg Cosell talk about traits and compare it to what they were saying. I mean who seriously compares a high school kid to a hall of fame tackle.

Imagine during the draft last week and the announcers said- Mendoza, the next Tom Brady, Bailey, the next Reggie White, Love, the next Walter Payton, Tate the next Jerry Rice. And that’s with players who have 3 years of college tape. Im sorry but comparing a high schooler to Joe Thomas shows serious judgement issues.

Also look at all the mock drafts and see how they play out a year later. And that’s with college tape.
That would be @Lance Roffers who is pretty well respected around here.

Fwiw, 247's pro comparison for Matthews is former 13th overall pick and 3x All Pro Tristan Wirfs.

the guys matthews have seen in practice i slikely better than who olu have ever seen.

North Jersey privates are good talent wise but were talking sta here and south florida. Matthews is seeing likely 3 power 5 dl every day since he has been in the 9th grade. Thats why i have him above olu on being able to play right away.

You can see from camp footage Olu seeing a step up in talent...that you wont see bother Matthews.

Both are what I like though as athletic tackles with good movement and length...Matthews + is his uber athleticism...when he hits s&c hes gonna be a bookend...Olu needs that strength as well.

All good points.
My wording was perhaps poor.
I'm just saying that while Olu has not played at/vs schools and players in comparison to Matthews,
he has still played in a very good football environment. Good enough to project going forward.
Also, let's not forget there have been players at STA who were imbedded in the incredible football environment that you described who honestly were at best average college football players.
Nonetheless, Matthews is the preferred choice.
No brainer.
But I would be OK wiith Olu, especially with our coaches.

I just think elko took it personal and bent mario over he’ll probably land olo too

It’s not hard
Elko out recruits Mario
Mario may be a better game day coach but Elko is a better recruiter
Congratulations for landing the profile picture on the definition of idiot on Wikipedia

Agree but can't blame the staff for not giving up.Dmoney and Pete had Lance on today talking about Mathews and Olubobola and there is a bit off a drop off from Mathews to Obubola.

I compared Jackson Cantwell to several hall of famers. I just couldn’t pick one, so I decided it was a combo of all the best traits of Jonathan Ogden, Anthony Muñoz, Tony Boselli and Jumbo Elliot. In my defense, I did have at least 6 spring snaps that I saw to prove my point.

We’re in a better spot than people realize. Two weeks ago, you heard that he already had his mind made up. If he What’s taking him so long? One would assume that if he liked A&M so much, he would have already committed.

Also, do people think it’s a coincidence that guys lile Dmoney and Flo are constantly emphasizing this has nothing to do with money? Those orders came right from the boss himself lol

Idk where he’s going to pick, but he doesn’t seem as close as people make it seem
Dotting I's and crossing T's on his NIL deal with Tex would be my guess once that's done he'll announce

TLDR we're broke. (This is the only
logical conclusion one can draw.) One must ask oneself where all the money went? After the greatest season in decades, it's sad to see
us reduced to toiling away in the neo-excelciites proverbial waste bin for scraps.
@JHallCanes its funny how you're the only one who could tell this was rage bait 🤣🤣

Ha. At least with Cantwell, he has a verifiable trait. Based on his shot put, he's the most powerful high school football player ever. He's also enormous physically. My daughter runs track and competes at the Nike Outdoor Nationals. We were there last spring. Here's Cantwell standing next to the other shot putters. He's just a massive dude who has a power profile that's never been seen in the sport. His throw was 76'11". To put that into perspective, Vince Wilfork holds the Florida state record at 68 feet. Ndamakun Suh and JJ Watt were state champs who threw 61 and 59 feet. That is a massive difference. Brandon Sheriff and Gerald McCoy were also good shot putters and threw around 60 feet. One thing I can safely say is that if he was able to engage with Bain he would be able to hold his ground. I can also say that if Bain and almost any other HS tackle were engaged Bain would run over them. A test for me is if you can survive contact with a grown man pass rusher.

I will be rewarding insider points to this man. We value accuracy here at the Cookies Rating Agency. We offer the best insider insurance known to message boards.

I know they get good info but it's from the Miami Staff point of view. I am very confident that we are not making a bigger offer for him as of right now and a secondary issue is the LT vs RT but the money is most important in that recruitment.

When I saw him bench 500 in HIGH SCHOOL, I knew we were getting an outlier amongst outliers. So yeah while there’s still a lot of reps/snaps/time to go, it’s clear that he has all the traits to literally be the OT of all time.

I saw those shot put numbers also. You ever try hucking that thing? I threw it like 30’ or so when I was in high school. Average for sure. These mega elite athletes are just on another level.

Are you a 925’er? 415? 408?
