Mark Matthews commits to TAMU in ambiguously ___ manner. Move On

If they do get Matthews, that will make 4 OT commits in the top 100 for 8&4View attachment 361291View attachment 361292
You can’t help but laugh at where 3 out of the 4 are from. Smh. Like it’s constantly said..kids from SoFla for the most part just don’t have that loyalty like kids from Cali, Louisiana and Texas to the home school. Glad we are starting to recruit nationally so we don’t have to depend on this nonsense. It’s a **** shame.

Is there time to change our celebration banners from Top 5 to Top 10. Someone call the warehouse and see.

Let the kid go live in a ****hole Texas town for a year. He can portal back as a sophomore.

He can struggle in the NFL that is possible, I agree the Giants do have a RT but Sisi is the more talented player imo, most draft pundits were projecting him as a guard months before the draft.
Either way, Mauigoa was an elite talent, he was a consensus top 10 player nationally. The staff did what they had to do but framing it as some great developmental project is insane. Now he is a show piece that you put at the top of your resume. The developmental showcase really was Bell. They took a lump of clay and molded it into a day 2 pick. The argument is that with out Mirabal and Mario, Bell is working the front desk of a LA Fitness.

We have not even played a game in the 2026 season, and the whole board is losing it over a recruit who has not signed anywhere, as if we all forget how this works...

oh come on GIF

This was always my theory. Kid doesn’t want to play second fiddle to Cantwell.
Say he goes TAMU and receives his millions, then reality hits and he realizes there’s nothing in Texas but a boring place especially not raised in that type of nothingness.
I and when he portals for more millions does he have to give TSMU there wasted millions or can he continue to portal and accumulate bank ?

Just a thought

It's not a money issue. We were ready to pay Matthews top of the market.

It wasn't effort. We recruited him forever as the top priority.

I don't think Cristobal and Mirabal forgot how to recruit offensive tackles, especially after watching Cantwell toss people all spring.

I also don't think it's about playing time. We play freshmen, and even if Matthews played RT (which he does in high school) he could still go Top 10 like Mauigoa and Fano.

So all that leads me to this conclusion: I think the kid just wants to go to Texas A&M. I don't understand it, but I'm not him. These guys are all different. Texas A&M did a better job recruiting him and looks like they'll win this battle. It's a brutal loss for the Canes.

All we can do is take the L and move forward. Consider it the recruiting version of the SMU game. Focus on Olu Olubobola and get it done. Elite offensive tackles are rare, and there is a big drop off to the next group (as we see in the first round of the NFL Draft). This needs to be a position where we continue to spend money on high school talent. Maybe we can flip Matthews back, but that's becoming less common in this era.

I still think we land a Top 5 class. But I also thought we'd get Matthews. So let's see what happens. We've got seven months. Go Canes.
It’s these south Florida kids man. They are weird af. They want out no matter what Miami is doing. They used excuses like Miami wasn’t playing good. But now there’s no excuse besides they want to go somewhere else. There’s plenty of kids that would love to be down here. Let these soft *** kids leave. I don’t care anymore. Let the FAT ELK have him

Has anyone considered he wants to play LT? Let's be honest, they all want to be LT's. Many top HS T's like SiSi won't be good with not playing LT. Taking a shot in the dark if this isn't about money, it must be about LT. That I can get, but we have seen several RT go Top 10 lately. Either way, their is no down playing this one. Here we are still missing on the top local 5*'s. It's a awful look. Stigma! It was said, over and over last season with Cooper and Russell, we can't miss. This bad look has to end and it's still happening. Their is no spinning this yet, again. No content creator or poster can spin this one. Stuffed in a locker and we are getting pummeled at this time.

Sometimes you need a change of scenery to appreciate where you’re from. Or maybe he wants to be on his own.

Still a massive L

How does he compare to Cantwell as a prospect? Unbiased takes please

My son, 6'5" 310, 2027 IOL, (still growing), 4.4 GPA would do anything to play and be coached at UM. He missed most of his junior year due to injury, so he's playing catch up in the recruiting game. More than likely he'll end up at a DII or FCS school. When he saw the news yesterday he quite simply said, "If you're an OL why would you pick anywhere else?" He then followed that up with, "UM is a beautiful place with everything you could ever want." My son gets it but he's been a Cane fan his entire life. And I will admit it sucks following recruiting when you have a loved one going through it and struggling to get looks.

he doesnt even play LT at St Thomas so that goes out the window lol.

I personally dont think the money was the same.

Also think its a visit high and maybe wanting to see something else for college.

Great kid , reminds me of the old days , I just love Canes so much if they could offer me as a sophomore back in the 70’s , I’d be saying YES before he finished the offering.

Thats why I have issues with the new recruits , I loved Miami with a passion, now it’s only money sad.

I’m working hard in dealing with it all @Shooter McGavin

There’s no reason or historically relevant reference to believe we will land a top 5 class. As a whole, we need to set the right expectation moving forward. We are not getting everyone and we do not have some elite war chest that allows us to win multiple 5 star battles.

The quicker this is understood, the better this board will handle news like this.

We are still a good recruiting program but this top class bs that happens EVERY APRIL needs to stop

There’s also no relevant or historical evidence that A2M will ever amount to 💩 as a program.
