Mark Matthews commits to TAMU in ambiguously ___ manner. Move On

I don't think Cristobal and Mirabal forgot how to recruit offensive tackles, especially after watching Cantwell toss people all spring.

I also don't think it's about playing time. We play freshmen, and even if Matthews played RT (which he does in high school) he could still go Top 10 like Mauigoa and Fano.

So all that leads me to this conclusion: I think the kid just wants to go to Texas A&M. I don't understand it, but I'm not him. These guys are all different. Texas A&M did a better job recruiting him and looks like they'll win this battle. It's a brutal loss for the Canes.

All we can do is take the L and move forward. Consider it the recruiting version of the SMU game. Focus on Olu Olubobola and get it done. Elite offensive tackles are rare, and there is a big drop off to the next group (as we see in the first round of the NFL Draft). This needs to be a position where we continue to spend money on high school talent. Maybe we can flip Matthews back, but that's becoming less common in this era.

I still think we land a Top 5 class. But I also thought we'd get Matthews. So let's see what happens. We've got seven months. Go Canes.

agree but it is a killer, I cover Tx and College Station is in the middle of nowhere
do not get that at all....... if it were UT Austin that I would get

The term sec girl is real and every other school in the sec is littered with the highest end talent colleges offer coast to coast. But in no way does Texas A&M get to be thrown into that. They are the 1 school in the sec that truly doesn’t belong as it relates to the sec “college experience”

I’ve been there twice for games and am genuinely curious what a visit to college station entails as a prospect

They are the most boring and nice fanbase. 40,000 Miami fans are way wilder than 110,000 A&M fans. That whole school gives a weird vibe with their male cheerleaders. Not sure what kids see when they visit. Maybe they all get laid by the hottest girls on campus. They’re doing something right and part of that is big bags being dropped for sure.

Respect. I thought this was going to get ugly based on past history of this board, but your response cracked me up. I'll take the critique, as I can be verbose, I just really want this young man to join Cantwell and possibly Olubobola with our current linemen, as I think they all would absolutely dominate any other team. I am probably getting a little greedy, but I'm okay with that.

So are Oklahoma and Texas. But like mizzou those colleges offer the “sec college experience” with top end females as far as the eye can see, top end greek life, and great nightlife if you’re into the college town nightlife feel.

College station/Texas A&M does not.

The aTm fans have a weird psycho-sexual set of obsessions about being polite and militaristic and tradition-driven. It's bizarre.

They have this new student area that is supposed to honor the military. There were some small signs on the door saying that you should take off your hat while inside.

The only problem was, it was one of the primary entry areas for the stadium that holds 110,000 people. And when you have visiting fans who don't know what the **** that building is supposed to be, and are just trying to walk through to get to the stadium, you're going to see problems. I watched some douchebag old Texas guy yell at a Miami fan and yank the hat off his head.

And, yes, of course you knew it would be some Texas cracker trying to teach a black Miami fan about manners...

I was happy to leave that Stepford Wives campus.
