2027 Mark Matthews 5* OL from STA

Do we think Congdon can be the RT next year? Seems like he's been getting a good amount of praise. If he's ready next year do we put Matthews at guard year 1? Don't jump me lol

Between Congdon, Ervin, Wilkerson, and whoever we get to replace that spot in the recruiting class (Sam-Epele? Ulu?) there would be options. Maybe none as good as this cat, but far from barren.

Most likely the 3yr part is the wrong one.

$9M/4yrs is not unreasonable imo.

Yr 1 - $1M
Yr 2 - $2M
Yr3 - $3M
Yr 4 -$3M+

If it’s higher end it’s probably like
Yr 1 - $1.5M
Yr 2 - $2.5M
Yr 3 - $3.5M
Yr 4 - $4M

That’d be $11.5M/4yrs =2.875M/yr. Which is right there at the $3m/yr number….

I look at this then think back when Miami almost got the NCAA death penalty for taking players to Black Angus steakhouse on Bird Road .
We ended up with couple year bowl ban and half our scholarships.
This , I wonder if there’s a salary cap ?
 
It's gonna keep happening until someone puts a cap on it like a million bucks a year max. That's when you have 5 teams offering a million a year and you really get to see where the kid's heart is at.

But then...the teams will start paying extra under the table just like before.

I was told by a staffer last year cantwell was going to Uga a week before the announcement. obviously we know how that went… my point is we will win more than we lose when it comes slots we are placing a true premium on. Especially on line of scrimmage. Especially especially on OL

Recruiting losses will happen and this one would sting bad but the best way to forget about them is to replace them with players equally good or better. In this case we wont find a better Tackle this cycle but we can take that money and apply it elsewhere. For me I believe the expectation should be the best class on paper in the Mario era.
