Mark Fletcher was eating good ..

As others have said, he definitely seemed to have great vision and more wiggle. He looked fresh all game.

Shot out to the receivers too. They were finishing blocks well down field. This hole team is physical.

Do you guys think he holds up against Taint's IOL?
If we think we're going to run duo again all game were insane. Macdonld is a true gap eater who doesn't give ground to anybody.
I think we run more outside zone and power to get the big boy running horizontally and tire him out. Then when his backup comes in, hit em inside. I think Downs will spend most of his time down in the box.

I think this is a game Carson will have to win and play like he did against ND. We need to take shots because they don't respect our outside WRs.
Marion and CJ have to be great like they were early on.

He was running like a man possessed
I’d like to see one of those stats about yards before contact

Last year with Cam yes Damien Martinez was a beast, but having to respect our passing game was a big piece

IIRC we either led the country or were right at the top two years in a row in yards before first contact running the ball

Not a shocker that just a little bit of motion and decoy usage makes everything look so much better rather than telegraphing everything

In the mic’d up video with Andre Johnson, EJ made a comment regarding how a RB gets a feel for the game as it progresses. My takeaway was that sharing the carries too much between players doesn’t one guy to feel his way through and break out as Mark did.

That's why I didn't hate the trick plays to Toney. Kept the A2M defenders diagnosing not crashing to the ball carrier. A couple were close to breaking, too.

Agreed. No one would have complained if Toney would have thrown the ball to Beck and he literally moonwalked 50 yards for a touchdown

Or we connected on the play to Jojo

The Dawson criticism is the same as any OC. It works they’re a genius, it doesn’t and they’re trash

He definitely stuck to the trick stuff for too long though when A&M never proved it could stop the run and I think he acknowledged that

Post to Daniels was breaking open too. Just didn’t have enough time

Yeah not saying Dawson shouldn’t and can’t be better

Just seems like a common theme when I rewatch games. We miss a lot of big plays in the pass game

Problem sometimes is that we just don’t create enough of those chances

@JHallCanes Fletcher averaged 5.21 yards before contact against A&M. Best of the year by far. His second best was 2.57 ybc against UF. Craaaaaazy. We saw the OL and Co run block like we all expected to see all year against A&M. May it continue against a much, much better run defense in Taint

edit: here's his card for entire year:

Macdonald is gonna be 1st round pick. Nobody throws him around. I don't expect a ton of successful inside stuff this game. Make him run horizontal and tire his fat@ss out. They're not deep behind him
Have to get hands on the linebackers to have success running outside. TE/WR blocking will be really important

Mark was decisive and his first step was impressive. His kid can carry us to a national title. 20 to 25 carries per from here on out.

Remember in 2023 at FSU when everyone was KILLING this kid for his vision and feel?

Chaney had like 80 yards and Fletcher had 20 something on more carries.

I’ve been saying all week the OL deserves massive kudos, and they do. But go back and really look at that tweet. Fletcher was WORKING. Not all these carries are just running through a massive lane right where the play is designed. He shows amazing vision, feel, and BURST in these clips. No breaking news here but **** this is the best he has ever looked in his career.
With all my heart, I think he’s going to pound OSU and wear them down and run wild on them in the fourth quarter. They haven’t seen an offensive line like ours and they’re in for a rude awakening when they do. I also think we’ll see some Pringle/toney off tackle stuff.
