Mark Fletcher is the best blocking RB in America

For the record, I was being sarcastic

All 3 backs missed blocks. And our TE. And Bell was a turnstyle at times. One got benched.

We went 0-1 in the natty which is all that matters, but Pringle didn't suck to CIS yesterday and nothing changed overnight other than the portal.
No one said Pringle sucks. That’s crazy talk. Yeah, everyone misses a block, but Pringle wasn’t what we needed in playoff run, obviously.

Yeah, we play Pringle in first half & light up the scoreboard.
You have zero idea if that is true or not true, but what you do know is we scored 0 points doing what we did do, and Pringle was not *****ed about when he lead the team in rushing against Syracuse, NC State, VT and Pitt.

Why is anyone arguing about Fletcher? I don't understand it.

We played bully ball throughout the playoffs , which suits Fletcher and Brown. It doesn't suit Pringle or Lyle. I really don't think that's debatable.

for those of you banging the table for Pringle, you forget that Mali got touches that a RB could have had too. and Mali blocks..... To me, the choice was made to use the personnel the way they did because of Toney.

Let it go. He won't be RB1 here as long as we have the offense that we do.

How many threads are arguments about the same thing????

Against 3 top tier teams with how many snaps under his belt during that stretch? Everyone can make a bad play but it's the consistency of the good that overlooks that, how did they react after that. I get this has to do with Pringle but i would guess the coaches are not there yet with him in those moments yet.
In those 3 games

Fletcher gave up 2 sacks on 28 pass block snaps
Brown gave up 0 on 12
Pringle gave up 0 on 4 (I have no problem if the coaches kept Pringle out of pass pro in the CFP)

For the record - Fletcher was playing like a beast, he's our best pass blocker, and I don't care AT ALL about the sacks he gave up. It happens.

BUT - for anyone saying pass pro is SO important, and Pringle was SO bad that he couldn't see the field (even on running downs).....then just be consistent.

Don't call Fletcher the best pass blocker RB then when he gives us 2 sacks act like "it happens, no big deal" after making such a big deal out of it.

Not a single person is asking for Pringle to be RB1 for an entire season and playoff or above Fletcher returning next yr…

The sack stuff is completely misleading. He was treated as a sixth offensive lineman most of the time in pass protection meaning he had a guy 1 v 1. He wasn’t chipping or double teaming an end with a tackle. Besides those two sacks, which 1 the LB made a great move in the A gap on him, Fletcher was completely neutralizing guys and riding them out of the play like a Left tackle.

Any RB would have given up at least 5 sacks if they were put on the islands that mark was.

He does need to work on his pass catching but I do remember one of the balls being behind him close to the line of scrimmage.
I agree that Fletcher is a very good pass blocker.

Good Pass blocking RB's give up 0-1 Sacks a year. Bad ones give up 3-4.

I don't need RB's to pancake dudes. Just slow them down/don't get the QB hit.

If a great pass blocking RB averages 4 ypc & a bad one averages 6 ypc - IMO it's risk/reward & different types of coaches would lean different ways.

Again - Fletcher made so many plays that I don't care one bit that he made some mistakes.

But on this play it looks like Fletcher simply feel asleep (it's gonna happen sometimes).

IMO the "RB X can't play because he can't block" crowd conveniently don't acknowledge plays like this.

Simply put Fletcher and Pringle aren't in the same universe currently. Pringle could surpass him as he's gifted but nobody in their right mind is taking reps away from a Fletcher playing out of his mind in the playoffs for Pringle. Not to mention the argument was for explosion when Fletch had runs of 56 and 57 yards in the playoffs. Pringle will play a ton next year because he'll earn it. The playoffs was for big boy football which Pringle proved ill prepared for at the moment *Firmly believes this changes next year as I think he just needs another year of strength and development*. Hopefully next year we'll have a diet USC version of Bush and White with Pringle coming back.
