Mario.

I said roster, not program. The 2022 roster was in abysmal shape outside of a handful of great players. The 2016 roster was a much better starting point.

But I don't really see the point in going around and around on this right after such an important win.

We'll know by season's end if Mario is the real deal or if he's just another guy.
He has had 3 going on 4 years, highest paid Miami coach ever, more resources available to him than any Miami coach, and the number one NFL draft pick and has yet to even make the ACC championship game. I don't know why you need this year to let you know if Mario is the real deal or not. Mario is who he is. Marios strength has always been recruiting which has someone been nullified because of NIL. I hope he changes my mind this year but even with this game I'm glad we won but certain tendencies still pop up.

Mario has got a lot of heat on this board, and some of it is absolutely warranted. But, a sign of a good leader is the willingness to acknowledge problems and take real steps to address them quickly. Recap….

We he arrives he understands the offensive line was a mess. Brings in Mirabal and some stud players, and now the olline is a strength. Understands he needs a more dynamic offense. Brings in Dawson and Cam, and the offense goes berserk. Realizes the secondary is a mess. Shores it up big time in the portal this year. Realizes the whole defensive scheme is out of whack. He cleans house on the defensive coaching side. I’m sure I’m missing some other points.

A lot of decision-makers never admit failure and never adjust (see Golden and his boy D’nofrio, or however you spell his name). Mario may not be a 10 out of 10, but you have to respect his willingness to make changes.

Go Canes.
FYI the spelling is 'nofrio. There is no "D" associated with that name.

This is exactly who he has always been as a coach. He’s a phenomenal program builder and recruits like a son of a *****, but on gameday in big games he clenches his butt cheeks like a ************. Been that way his whole career

I have so much appreciation for the juice and reincarnation he’s brought to this program but on game day he just really falls short

My main beef with Mario, and this might be more of a Shalala curse thing because it’s not exclusive to just him, but we can NEVER put all this **** together at once. Ever.

So you make fine points and I agree, but why does this school continually plug a leak in the boat only to have another one immediately spring? We can afford a $3M quarterback, can we not afford some ******* flex seal??

So I’m pumped about the DB room. I think Mario is a ******* savage and you cannot possibly have anyone on the planet that will work harder to win here. But ****, for the love of Christ, can we just have it all come together just once? #1 offense in America and we put the 2022 defense back on the field.

2018, we have a top 10 defense, we beat FSU to go to 5-1 and we promptly score THIRTEEN points against Virginia and lose.

I’m really tired of jerking each other off over one move or two, or flipping a room, and then all of a sudden holy **** don’t look behind that door there’s a vat of buttholes where our punter should be.

All that said, we’re going to be very good again in 2025, provided Beck is fully ready in a couple months. Mario is doing well and steadily improving the program. 10 wins is cool. But Jesus Herbert Walker Christ, win this god awful conference. Now.
Bro, its not the 80s...do a bump...and see what you are working with.

Being able to post stuff at will, is a bitxh

In most cases, the top prospects are gonna get comparable offers from multiple schools. Sometimes a whale booster or collective will blow everyone out of the water, but that’s not the norm. For the most part, NIL packages end up in a ballpark range according to ranking, position, and projected value. A kid might have 3 similar offers, but if one staff feels more genuine, connects better with his family, and has a proven track record of developing guys for the league, it can still tip the scale. It's easy to think of them as pros because they're changing teams for money, but these are still kids, and families (who don’t wanna feel like their kid is just a transaction) still matter.

Also, with the transfer portal, keeping players is just as important as landing them. Strong recruiters like Mario can be better at keeping their roster intact when other schools dangle NIL deals. A strong program culture plus trust in the staff will usually stop players from bolting for a little more money.

Say what you will about his game day coaching skills, but his recruiting/program building is just as much of a factor today as it's ever been...especially when you consider the fact that he's no longer at a disadvantage with only certain schools paying players.

He needs to not play so **** conservative at the end… jimmy Johnston might wanna talk to him about staying on them and run it up.

Playing not to lose isn’t the always the answer you let teams hang around
Right, because Jimmy Johnson’s five years at UM were flawless. No losses, not even any close games. Total domination.

what would you like to pay him? His salary is competitive with other top tier programs. Personally, I'm really tired of hearing about his salary. It's not even part of this conversation.

If you have a problem with his recruiting, I don't know what to tell you. Not a single coach who came before him would recruit at this level - and I'm not talking about 20-30 years ago. It's time to live in the present, not the past.

Him and Dawson were passing down their leg the whole second half but the kicker and the mesidro/bain closed it out

In college football, talent acquisition is king. Those players can't save Mario and Dawson if they're not here

I’m still waiting for the anti-Mario crowd to point out the gameday coaching savant in college football today that we should be trying to emulate.
They're the same ones who hold Butch to God levels not realizing he was a terrible Game Day coach. They flew a freakin banner over the OB to get rid of him. LOL

And they don't realize that the current national champion coach lost to an unranked team at home less than a year

No coach is even close to perfect. They all make stupid in-game decisions from time to time.

Generally fans put a microscope on their own team's coaches so they notice every possibly bad decision they make but they don't notice so much for an opposing coaching staffs.

I love making points that are so irrefutable that @JamesQuall and @SinisterCane can only post emojis. No effort to show me where i'm wrong.
