Mario

What was Michigan states or UVA ranked?

But we’re talking about Oregon. One of the 5 stars (flowe) was hurt and another, the OT transffered out. Yet he still won 10 games.
Sounds just like the excuses the Manny Apologists use to try explain when he loses to less talented teams… like the teams you referenced above.

I mean when you have a generational QB like Justin Herbert and can’t even sniff the CFP because you choke in every big game you coach in, it’s a bad look.
They were 6th in the cfp rankings prior to the bowl games. I mean, notwithstanding the arbitrary “sniff” standard, that’s pretty close to being a playoff team. Sure, they shouldn’t have lost to a bad asu team two weeks earlier, but genius Eddy O and Burrow would’ve carved them up (just like they did Saban, Riley and dabo) and you’d still be able to fall back on “couldn’t win it all doe.”

Seriously though, if you can’t acknowledge that Cristobal is squarely in the second tier of college football coaches and a clear upgrade to any coach we’ve had this millennium, maybe you’re too far gone. Lane, Stoops, Freeze, Herman, etc. all have warts akin to Mario’s. And, pining for one of the 5 coaches in the top tier is beyond useless.

How hard is it to find a good stable coach , it's not rocket science. We are the U. we should have a line of candidates knowkin at our door to become the next COACH. What has happened. I'm tired of waiting
.its been a long 20 yrs. Since we joined the acc, we have produced ****. I hope it turns around.

oregon's loss to stanford is the real head scratcher...they are absolutely horrible. you can say that utah was the better "team" (even though oregon vastly out talents them)...but losing to a stanford team that finished second to last in the pac 12 at 3-9 is pretty inexcusable. the narrative of miami distractions at the time of the stanford loss is null and void...no distractions for oregon at the time and mario **** the bed.

stanford's not a good team, and it was a very bad loss- no getting around that. i will say though that the reason stanford absolutely bottomed out this year is their starting QB went down and they've had a carousel of garbage ever since- and that injury happened after the oregon game.

Did you watch that game? Mario’s OC right before the game was checked into the hospital… granted his offense had already been suspect with Morehead to begin with but it was even more awful yet they were still in position to win

I’m nervous more about these dominating wins by Utah… they got punched in the mouth and didn’t respond back and I didn’t think that was Mario’s MO for a team…. But well see cause he’s gonna be our HC

mario is a clear upgrade over manny...just to clarify. i just feel like we can do better with lane.

but...all in all fellas...not much to complain about if we snag Rad as AD and settle on Mario (even though it would be nice to actually hire the best coaching candidate available, rather than zeroing in on just one guy because of his miami ties and decent success he's had at oregon). if we're gonna go all in on this thing, then go alllll the way in. You brought in the elite AD...now go snag the best coach out there...which i doubt is mario at this point.

i watched a good chunk of the game...but you have to look at talent level as well. is there a question how much more talented oregon's roster is than stanford's? even with that adversity, to lose that game is quite telling. The utah losses are super concerning as well, trust me. Losing to another team that you out talent, twice, in the span of 3 weeks, in blow out fashion. just not a good look.

i was actually rooting for oregon to win these games, because i'd rather us bring mario in on a high note after notable wins and a strong finish to his season, rather than him finishing the year in "dud" fashion. even keeping it at least competitive with utah would have alleviated some concerns, but blowout city is what's rankling a lot of feathers (mine included) i think right now.

I have stated I prefer Lane.
That being said, it is still absolutely crazy to think we're going to have a bunch of miserable, crying Lane fanboys vomiting all over CIS after Mario is announced as HC tomorrow.

I was the conductor of the Lane Train, but I'll throw my support behind Mario. I would be more worried if we had ended up with an AD like Pedro Griffin, Nunez, or even Gino. We have a guy who knows how to take a small budget team and have them going toe to toe with Bama. There is nothing particularly special about Dabo. He isn't a Xs and Os guy, he got blown out in the biggest games, etc. He hired a top notch staff which was one the highest paid in cfb, and they went from there to be one of the most dominant programs of the 2010s. Mario can be the Dabo of the 2020s, but he really needs to get the OC and DC hires right. Diaz showed what happens when you whiff on OCs and DCs your first year.

The one negative I'll say is I don't see a massive separation in Marios coaching over Diazs coaching. I thought Diaz was going to be the anti Golden and be willing to adapt, instead he doubled down just like all the failed coaches before him. He stuck with Patke despite clear incompetence and passed on some excellent talent in the portal because he thought the team was fine. Hopefully with Officer Hightower advising him, Mario will be far more open to change and advice than Diaz.

Pretty sure these Lane or bust die hards know **** well he isn't coming here and are just laying the groundwork for a relentless *****fest when he doesn't. In fact that seems to be the M.O. of a large cohort of posters here.

Has Kentucky backed the Brinks truck up to Stoops' house yet? I'd be happy to have him here.

It's annoying as ****. There are great posters with concerns about Mario, and I get it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but YOu have the other as$holes that complain no matter what happens.
Like, you can be skeptical, cause this program looks like its cursed.

But some in here smash a new hire before that hire hasnt even been made official.

Its ******* sad. Some in here really need to get over themselves.
