Mario on Joe Rose 11/7

Something Mario has said multiple times now after losses is "we didn't coach very well" or "we have to coach better." While it's good to not be oblivious to that, what the **** is being done to fix that? This is one of the highest paid coaching staffs in the nation this should not be an issue.
Well he can't say our players suck and lose the locker room. If a player is coached to do X and he doesn't, you bench him. We have 0 depth in a lot of spots and don't have that luxury

Is there anything he could possibly say short of resignation that would placate the angry mob?
I think for most this would be enough:

Josh Gattis….

He’s in over his head.

This is what a man who’s bitten off more than he can chew sounds like.

He’s taking credit for the rehab work FSU did for Benson.

A lack of talent doesn’t keep you form being competitive; CORCH.

People are used to losing around here, they’re just not used to GETTING BLOWN OUT
I’m behind Mario but he recruited three of the four starting defensive linemen and a linebacker from the portal and it hasn’t created physicality. His OL transfers have barely broken into the starting OL, if at all.

I‘ll give him more time. His OL and LB recruitment is top notch so far.

Mario knows the main issues with this team has been injuries. Nick Saban wouldn’t be able to overcome the injury issues. Gattis and the offense is a close 2nd.. that will get resolved. It’s all part of the process.

:backyard-pool:
We looked like dog **** in the first 4 games before the injury bug hit us. That’s a bad excuse.

If we would have looked great before the majority of the injuries happened, I would agree with you, but that is not the case.

We had Colby Young riding pine in the aTm game when he could have most probably helped us win that game.

They refused to make tweaks until we got blown out by MTSU, and then reverted to the 3 plays and a cloud of dust offense after TVD was destroyed on a sack against Duke.

Yes, in the last 2 games injuries played a major role, but we had enough talent to win at least 2 more games before the injuries mounted up.

As usual. The reality is somewhere in the middle.

Is it all the coaches? No
Is it all the players? No

Would this offense look better with Michigan’s 2021 beastly OL and Haskins and corum? Yes.
But guess what. That crap ain’t gonna work here. Mario went star ***** chasing on his staff

I didn't get the vibe at all. Especially when he said about talent and stuff you look at it in the off-season. I know we as fans view the season as over but reality is we have 3 more weeks. Changes will definitely come but it won't be right now. And everyone needs to remember Alonzo is watching all of this. He's imput will be big this off-season
I just watched Coach Hayes The Good, The Bad, The Ugly FSU edition. On defense, it is not even about talent. It is about IQ and tackling.

FSU did nothing special. They overloaded their run blocking with counters and we never adjusted. They simply outflanked us for huge plays.

We have NO QB on the defensive side of the ball.

The LBs don't communicate. They just stand there staring into the backfield NOT adjusting the defensive line. Often times the LBs themselves aren't lined up correctly where they take themselves out of the play before the ball is even snapped.

This comes back to coaching. I can't believe Steele and Strong put a product on the field that doesn't know how to line up properly, doesn't communicate, and they still don't tackle well.

Why not? What will happen? We’ll get blown out at home without scoring a TD? Lol

Marios team right now screams selected accountability to me. That will contribute to more culture problems, not fix them.

I wish Mario could fine these son of a *******. You want to be a lazy ****slap who doesn't want to do things right then you could fork over some of the dough you are making off NIL deals.

I’ll ask you the same question, since you seem to be doubling down on your defense of Mario.

I stated facts. Mario promised when he was hired that he would not run an offense that would hinder TVD, or what we saw from him last season. He did the exact opposite.

He strong armed the BoT before he was hired. He demanded full autonomy over every aspect of the program. In year one, it’s been an abject failure. We are equaling records from the 1964 team, and not the good kind of records.

He needs to take accountability instead of doubling down on his “toughness” and “hard work” coach speak.

There are millions of dollars being poured into the program now, including to him and his staff. This is a business, and like any other business that is successful, competence is paramount, and the bottom line is profits.

Ruiz might be his best friend in the world, but I guarantee you that there better be great results in the next couple of years. With the amount of cash that dude is investing, empty words and promises are not going to be enough to suffice.

Beating MTSU, Duke and a mediocre F$U team should not require Baga or Georgia kind of talent. Any competent OC could have had this squad score enough points to beat those teams, or at least be competitive. We got blown out at home in all 3 of those games.

It all starts at the top. Less rhetoric, more action to fix this mess.
Read my post again. I specifically stated I was NOT defending Mario’s results to this point.

Again, most of what you’re basing your opinions on is conjecture, speculation and 2nd, 3rd hand knowledge as do even the “insiders” on this site.

No one can argue that the **** we’ve seen on the field is totally unacceptable. Expecting much more than what we’ve seen in less than 11 months after 2 decades of incompetence is unrealistic.

Let me be clear. I am NOT defending the product on the field. What I am saying is to expect a complete turn around in less than 11 months is unrealistic and there are a multitude of factors contributing to what we’re seeing.

The reality is this.

1. Mario screwed up his staff, hiring guys that don’t fit together or were severely overrated at big programs (Gattis & Addae)

2. We’ve been decimated by injuries and we already had a lack of depth. Almost all of the starting OL, RBs, starting QB, TE, etc. Feld needs to be evaluated for all these injuries

3. The culture is broken and our talent level is extremely poor. Very few NFL talent guys, non tough nose football guys, players are used to Manny’s cupcake practices and “fun” culture vs. a business/work culture that Mario is trying to instill

4. The offense is just terrible. Gattis is horrible and to blame for 2-3 losses. He’s ruined our whole QB room and WR room
Facts in 150 words or less!

I think this was probably the most alarming thing for me throughout the season. Game 1, he lit into the defense after KK's "penalty", which is something we saw a fair amount of at Oregon. Seems like he's figured out that that won't work with this current group. You can see him walking around the sidelines these past few games trying to figure out how to channel all of the anger he wants to take out on the team but can't.

I vote for firing Gattis, but something like a scene from Gladiator…

Locker room already lost sir

How come people keep saying “complete turnaround?”

We ended last season winning 5 of 6 games with a QB and an offense on an upwards trajectory under the leadership of the most clueless coach that’s ever stepped on the field here

We lost barely anyone to the NFL draft

We took that team, invested about a billion dollars, and we are exponentially worse on the field

What exactly were we in this desperate need of this REBUILD, TURNAROUND nonsense I keep reading?

All we needed was a marginal improvement on a team that played well down the stretch and returned most of the same guys

How is that somehow unrealistic?

This!! But only a few posters seeing this. Even if we fix the offense, we’ll be complaining about the defense needing to be fixed in the next year or two. Steele need to go along with Gattis.
