Mario on Joe Rose 11/7

For that time, he did run an explosive one back offense that had some spread in there. My point is, the entire game and offenses have evolved since than. Scoring in the 30s was high octane in those days.
Of course and that offense still would be more explosive and fit our talent skill set better than Gattis offense 30 years later.

Truth be told Golden had the following folks on his roster his first year:
Jacory Harris
Mike James
Stephen Morris
Denzel Perriman
Philip Dorsett
Travis Benjamin
Seantral Henderson
Allen Hurns
Dallas Crawford
Sean Spence
Oliver Vernon

I would love to have some of that talent in the current roster
Our roster today is better that Middle Tennessee State, Duke, and FSU and all 3 did a beat down on this team period.

You don't think I all his years of being around the game of football, staffs and coaches that he doesn't have a great understanding of what it is need to get where we see trying to go?
From a talent perspective 100%. From a scheming, coaching, coaching staff symbiosis, etc he has an eye for some of it obviously from being with the Packers who were very successful while he was there but the X’s and O’s weren’t his thing.

What's he supposed to say? That he doesn't have the horse and he inherited a soft-as-Charmin team from Manny, that isn't responding? That they're more focused on recruiting and selling the next generation of the right kids on a new-look Miami because the present is a complete abortion?

He can't say that, so you get coach-speak—which is why I don't get why anyone bothers listening to theses meaningless Joe Rose interviews looking for anything of stubstance.

And the "highest paid" staff staff stuff is silly. That's akin to saying the Yankees should win every year because they have the highest-paid salary and then you see scrappy teams with chemistry going far in the postseason, like Philadelphia. This staff doesn't have the right players, doesn't have chemistry with their players and doesn't have chemistry with each other. Lots of bad fits all around.

Mario has a lot to do this off-season. I used to be a "get a bowl game for the extra practices" guy, but realistically Miami is better off missing a bowl, sending some coaches and players packing. getting back to recruiting and robbing the portal blind for 2023. No benefit of some fourth-tier bowl game if this team got to 6-6 and eked in.

Put this thing out of its collective misery.
If this is the same coaching staff next year you will get the same results.

No they technically where in his job description but the man has been around the game for so long and as a former player I'm sure he has a understanding of the X's and O's. Maybe to not to the level of game planning but he still had to make talent and scheme fits to the coaching staffs he worked with.

There’s 0% chance of that. If rumors are to be believed at least a couple of coaches are dying to leave to other spots anyway and will be looking for any exit.

For people saying this team is soft.. these same kids for the most part played their hearts out at the end of last season! Maybe they wanted to keep *****. But they hate these skeems they’re running so they gave up on these coaches. Even the young guys have.

I completely agree. It really shouldn't but I've coached before and been in a similar situation. When you have this many guys out due to injury and the depth of the team can't sustain those losses it make everything you try to do just about impossible.
The team looked bad before the injuries... excuses are for losers

Clearly you have never played football by your comments. Our offense was trying to fit a square in a round hole before the injuries started mounting. And that will make everyone look bad. No excuses, facts are facts.

I’m hoping you are right that Zo will have some input and that input is sound on Mario’s next staff because I don’t think Mario has the ability to put the kind of staff together to correct his inefficiencies.

Which is on the coaches. For10 months they watched film of this team last year, watched them in practice, watched 7 on 7’s, qb’s throwing to wr’s in shorts, watched these kids in the weight room and doing drills, etc. and they kept on trying to put the same square in a round hole.

Exactly we haven’t seen much of a difference in how the young guys (non Manny recruits) and transfers have looked compared to the Manny recruits this year. The only kids you can get excited about from their play this year are Rivers, Mesidor, Taylor, Kinchens, Cooper, Young, and maybe Jacurri and Parrish. Some are Manny’s guys, some are Mario’s guys.

You can watch all of those things, prep for things, practice it but til live bullets start flying you have no idea how kids will truly respond. 10 months still isn't enough time to break 90% of this team from the all the bad habits. This team had no idea hard work was. Ever notice how any of the guys that have left the team for other programs never really seems to do much and if they do its a few years down the road? We were a very broken program. Now I do agree Gattis has to go. I think his actions have cost him his job but if I were to sully base judgment off his performance, I couldn't because I still don't know what he can do with a full healthy roster

why are we excited about brown? bc hes not Jake? he provides a diff element bc the OL is banged up but I didnt see much of anything in limited snaps that gives me hope (very limited snaps so its not an indictment on him - just needs more snaps).

he didnt do **** at Michigan. he was terrible there. hes just not a good OC. the losses this year aren't due to kids not used to hard work. they worked hard when king went down and went on a winning streak. we are being out coached each week. not defending the counter is not due to hard work. its due to coaching. it was the same when Manny got exposed by UNC running counters.

Let's be honest here, before a game was played everyone on this board said we had a great staff. Did we make a mistake in a few coaches? Yes but hindsight is 20/20. As much as our roster is trying to gel with the coaching staff and each other. The same can be said for the coaching staff. Now I do expect changes and I expect Zo to have influence but time will tell.

You don't win the Broyles award by being a bad coach. And secondly everyone was calling for Lashlees head before the winning streak. And the winning streak was sparked by TVD unbelievable run. And if you go back and watch those games in the winning streak, the passing in particular, was some of Rob Likens scheme from Arizona State. So point being this fan base is sooo quick to just scrap something. **** takes time. The Era of "give me now now now" is why patience is dying quality

lol youre going to bring up the broyles bull**** again. we already destroyed that argument countless times. go do a re read of the forum.

he had two horrific years as a sole OC at Michigan.

in 21, harbaugh brought in a CO-OC, a new QB coach, got more involved with the offense, and took away some of Gattis play calling duties. he wasn't even really involved anymore. the new QB coach is now the Co-OC there along w Moore who was their CO-OC w gattis. not many good OCs lose sole possession of duties and title if theyre doing a good job

this **** doesn't take time you moron. dykes went to TCU and running a new scheme and has them rolling in year 1. Lanning changed the entire O scheme at Oregon with new KEY players who weren't good at previous stops and has them surpassing anything they've done at Oregon under Mario on O.

a good OC and coach can find success immediately.
