MaRiO NeEds his OwN GuYs

And was an absolute bust at the next level.

This is y it’s absolutely insane to compare what a guy did at the NFL to college & vise versa. The two r not synonymous. It’s the most straw man argument there is.

Understood but look at the last three games of Herbert’s career at Oregon. Those numbers are mind blowing for a kid who should have been a Top 3 pick don’t you think?

Also had six games that season with one or zero passing TDs. Honestly an abomination for a talent like Herbert to have that many games in one season where he was so underutilized.

Not one argument here; but, being that I’ve had Justin in my FFB league the past 2 yrs, I can tell u he’s still doing the same chit. Right now, he’s on a back to back sub 240 yrd game performance w 1 TD & 1 int in 2 games. Last yr he threw for under 240 6x, including under 200 yrds 2x despite toting the rock 34 & 39x, respectively.

I wouldn’t call that a “Mario” thing vs. Justin, for all the talent he has, have moments where he’s off af. That doesn’t take away that Herbert could’ve been featured more while at UO, but his record, accomplishments, stats, all improved under Mario. Therefore, I think it’s a bit unjust to label Mario as “killing” Herbert

to be fair, right now hes also dealing with injured ribs and playing through it. it seems to be affecting his strength.

I dont think he killed Herbert just underutilized him bc of their offensive design. Mario wont change there

That’s all I’m saying; and honestly he threw for 340 & 2 TDs right after the injury. Lol. Herbert just be having those games, bro; trust me. My pops is a die hard Chargers fan & he loves Herbert, but even he said he can’t put him on that Mahomes, Allen, level right now b/c one minute he’s HOF worthy, & then out of nowhere, he just slumps.

yup. his ill timed picks are not good either.

Stats provide empirical evidence tied to performance. Goal posts are being moved to say eye test matters more yet it's common practice for stats to be provided to support an argument within the realm of sports. Herbert wasn't ruined yet the offense left a lot to be desired, both things can be true simultaneously.
Eye test has ALWAYS mattered more , u can use stats but the film has to back it up and in alot of cases like this one it doesn’t at all and it seems our fanbase is in denial. But i agree with the last sentence, i never said ruined I always say he didn’t maximize him or even try to like any logical coach would

And guess what bro, people are KILLING staley and lombardi for it lmao

But where the narrative about mario comes from is there aren’t many qbs that have been this successful at the next level (this guy broke records) with this level of talent be that underused at the college level. We’re talking about a guy in the conversation for best nfl arm right now throwing screens and bubble routes all game…like imagine what we tried to force on tvd earlier in the year but 10x worse with a 10x better qb lol

Herbert is also under siege this season. The Chargers lost their starting C and LT, both Pro Bowl level talents.

We’re seeing that in the NFL a lot this season. Scoring and big plays are down from this time last year. A lot of teams are playing poorly on offense, notably on the OL, and maybe due to shorter training camp and preseason. Less hitting and OL not in synch.

Yes, I’ve read & heard that the competition committee might address this. I know they r trying to make the game safer, but it’s become apparent to everyone the lack of physicality in practice is causing bodies to be ill prepared for the physical contact in live games.
