So James FranklinHe is the HC of a program that will never win another title and will never be fired but will do good enough for many years.
If he ain’t the guy, we’re ****** in my opinion. For all his flaws, he actually cares. This ain’t just a job or resume booster for him.
I want him to succeed, we’ve been a middling program for over twenty years now.
blip in the radar2017 was actually a pretty elite program. Defeat top 5 Notre Dame by crushing them after beating a ranked VTech team and nearly taking down Wisconsin in the Orange Bowl.
Brother there is nothing elite about losing your last 3 games of the season including a booty blasting in the conference title game.2017 was actually a pretty elite program. Elite compared to the **** show before richt and immediately after his departure.2017 was actually a pretty elite program. Defeat top 5 Notre Dame by crushing them after beating a ranked VTech team and nearly taking down Wisconsin in the Orange Bowl.
We do this every year
It’s because the media puts us so high they can bag on un when we don’t meet expectations!!!Exactly. And we never seem to finish higher than when the year began.
Go Canes!!
Spot on. He started out 14-12 at Penn State and then went 11-3 in year 3.So James Franklin

FYI - you can select "Reply" button in the far right corner of a post and refer the post directly like I'm doing here. The posts just above this one are spot on. If he doesn't succeed, we're in long-term trouble. Who would be next? Who are we getting that has the recruiting chops that he has (even in a weak ACC etc)? Kirby and Sark ain't coming here.. Yes, there are plenty of gameday questions based on actual recent experience.. hopefully we overcome those this year and compete for ACC and national titles..

After those first 2 years coming off sanctions, aside from 2020 and 2021 has been a top 15 team year in and year out. Never over the hump. That's what I expect.
Miami has better NIL and an easier path. Assume catching lightning in a bottle this year or landing another stud transfer QB next year and we could maybe make a bigger splash than Franklin has ever been able to do. Aside from that, and the window for that is closing quickly, not sure how you can argue Mario/Miami is any different or better than Franklin/PSU (ignoring the rapey stuff from that school).
The only counter argument I’d make is that NIL is changing the game and top tier talent is more spread around. And the will only increase in the future.Spot on. He started out 14-12 at Penn State and then went 11-3 in year 3.

You familiar with "tubgirl"? If not and you decide to google it, be sure you're not at work....All of our failures have been related to high estrogen levels of fans. We need more tuff and fizical porsts. Can someone supply the board with some bathtub test or let me know where to get some?
Agree but there's still some lingering draw to the SEC and Big 10. Teams aren't stock piling like Bama for a decade and a half and then Georgia but we're still sitting outside the top 10 just because of the conference we're in. Those 2 conferences are stock piling but split across 10 teams. The only counter argument I’d make is that NIL is changing the game and top tier talent is more spread around. And the will only increase in the future.
The days of Bama stockpiling all the talent are over. That’s why Saban left when he did.
If Miami continues to have a strong NIL program and eventually makes it to a P2 conference, there is still a chance to win championships. There is still a large subset of kids that would rather play in Miami than an SEC college town. And when Miami is on top, there is no cooler school.
To me, in this new era of college football, it’s going to come down to QB play. If every contender has a solid 1st string, but everyone kinda has holes everywhere due to the portal and NIL spreading the talent around, then the teams with the best QB play will win. That is a concern with Mario as HC, unless he can keep hitting in the portal. Buts FSU learned, you live by the portal, you die by the portal.
I think eventually (sooner than later, probably) you’ll see the players get employee status, there will be collective bargaining, contracts, etc. Will that hurt or benefit Miami? I haven’t really given that much thought. But until that day comes, I don’t see why UM isn’t in just as good a position as everyone outside those 4-5 big spenders like Texas. Get to the playoffs and hope for positive variance to get ring number 6.
Not sure why the odds would be we don't get another Cam or Beck level QB. If Beck is great here, if anything I think it means are Odds are Good we do get another QB to those levels - AKA a top 2-3 QB in the portal. I mean I guess this assumes Dawson is still OC here...A great question because of the timing. This year will answer it. We are going to lose so much talent after this season, even with the portal, their will be a drop-off. The odds are we don't get another QB on Cam or Beck's level. I bought into Heatherman and his staff early and I feel even better about them now. I believe Heatherman puts him over the top. If young players develop during the season, this team could be better than expected.
