Mario Cristobal

Saban never fired or even demoted Mario. There were some rumors at one point that Saban was going to demote Mario to TE coach, but they proved to be complete BS.

With that being said, it was only rumored that Saban was going to demote Mario because Alabama fans wished that would happen. They did not think Mario was a good OL coach.

this is true. He was never demoted. Saban wanted to hire Brent key but he wanted to have key as an analyst. Key had other big time offers so Saban brought him on as a position coach and made him center and guards coach. Mario was given assist HC /Tackles and TE.A lot of these titles are about money. It was basically why Thomas brown was labeled co-OC/RB coach. Thomas was not calling plays or even helping devise gameplans. It was all about money. Mario STILL coached the Oline if anybody watched the games. Why would Mario get demoted after getting a raise and after his Oline JUST won the joe Moore award given to the nations BEST Oline. it was all about getting key because Saban knew he might lose Mario soon. He was already getting calls from other schools about Mario.
Lastly Oregon has one of the best olines in college football this yr. the LT Mario Recruited he also recruited Dallas Warmack to Oregon who he recruited to Alabama. The other guys were already on the roster as red shirt sophomores. Under helfrich the line was considered soft and Oregon was considered a finesse team. They are not considered that anymore under Mario

Mario made one of the worst corching decisions last year against Stanford

people keep saying this but only folks who say this don’t know football for time management. They look at the remaining time before the fumble but don’t look at the time before the play call or the fact that Stanford had 1 more timeout. Or the fact that the Oregon defense under jim and the corners were giving up jump balls. The RB had just ran for 7 yrds on 1st down. Another 1st down and it would have been over. David Shaw would have then took a timeout and then they would have been able to kneel down on the ball. The defense started failing. The running back had just ran for 7 yrds on 1st down. On 2 and 3 he ran again and had the 1st. If they would have took a knee with Stanford TO Stanford would have got the ball back with about 45-50 seconds left in the game. The way the corners were giving up big plays they didn’t want to take a chance. People look at the time after the fumble and say Mario should have took a knee. What they don’t look at is the time before the play and the TO that Shaw still had

He fumbled with like 50 seconds left on the clock

"before Sean Barton recovered CJ Verdell's fumble on the Stanford 40 with 51 seconds left"

Try again to defend him

So let me get this right. Mario gets blamed for his coaches & their decisions yet manny doesnt? Manny can get better with experience yet mario cant? Kool. Good talk. You feel free to give him whatever excuse you want. Yall fans known to do that till you just decide you wont. I know what I'm looking at though & you're in for bumpy ride if youre hoping this improves any time soon.

Mario has had 5+ seasons of sample size and the guy still makes the dumbest mistakes. How does any coach make the blunder of what he did last year against Stanford? Wasn’t Manny the one last year to tell Richt not to score against FSU so they could just run out the clock?

You have a certain bias against Manny and certain staff members, which is fine because we all have bias when it comes to certain things but I’m not going to go rip into a dude 6 games into his tenure as a first year HC losing 3 games by 1 score or less

If the team blows the rest of the season and he decides not to make changes this off season like his predecessors then yes I’ll rip into the guy

watch the Stanford game again

Before the fumble and the play was ran how much time was on the clock at 2 & 3. If they down the ball and take a knee that makes it’s 3 & 3 and Stanford takes a TO. On 4&3 after the time out and knee how much time is left. See people like u are looking at the clock AFTER the fumble. Some of y’all need to learn clock management and timeouts yourselves before u judge.

Snapped the ball with 58 seconds left, Herbert could have easily taken few seconds off clock so lets say 56 seconds being generous, TO, take another 3-4 seconds down to 52 seconds, take the full time and get called for a penalty, punt the ball, make srtanford go 80+ yards in 15 seconds with zero TO

So his first full season at Oregon he improved the team from 7-6 to 9-4...….a team coached by Taggart.....and this year he is sitting at 5-1 and ranked in the top 15.

That's a strong post by you.
lol at people pining for Mario freaking Cristobal. Literally no one would be discussing him as a candidate for our job if he hadn't played here.
He has zero interest in this job

1. Our staff and Admin is a joke.
2. Mario has a good staff, has a great class coming in, and will be in the playoff within the next two years.
3. We will still be trying to win the coastal.
4. Our recruiting class will be mediocre, why? Manny is a terrible recruiter.
5. ZacCane call Me to discuss Cheney.

standord didn’t need to go 80+ yards they just needed to kick a FG to take it into overtime, which they did because the defense was not performing at all that game. Stanford could have got the ball back with :20 or more seconds left. The way the wrs were making plays on the DBs why take the chance. If they got the 1st down like they did before the dude fumbled the game is over. The dude just got 7 yrds on 1st down. Even after the fumble what happened. The defense did like they were doing all game, FAILING, allowed Stanford to get into FG range and they tied the game.

He did it in 2004-2006 when we were still relevant
If the narrative is gonna constantly change than were wasting each others time... also while the team was still relevant our philosophy under larry was broken. He was the only one still recruiting at a high level. But obviously you have your mind made up. Doesnt make you right or wrong. Either way nothing is gonna change anytime soon. Your boy will have plenty of time to prove to yall hes exactly what I already know he is.

Obviously I don have the scoop that you claim to, but I tend to agree just based on the fact that there's less competition recruiting and conference wise, less expectations from fans, and big ole communist Nike money.

Why in the world would he want to leave that to come to a program he already bailed on once. Don't blame the guy for running from the complete incompetence of this program.

You're an idiot if you think UF is the same team today as they were when that game was played. UF has gotten better while Miami is still circling the drain that Manny is taking them down.

Your right. Uf defense is worse now than they were then...and they swapped out a qb...other than that..same team brah.

He has zero interest in this job

Only people on this board have interest in him. Not sure why he is even being brought up every 2 mins on this board. It typically disappears though after he loases his prerequisite 4 games a year.
